OJ-Deru (Cleveland Derue Cathnott) hails from Kingston in the island of Jamaica. A graduate of the University of the West Indies with a degree in International Relations and Politics and a minor in Economics, OJ-Deru’s first love is music.While studying for his degree, OJ-Deru quickly became one of the lead vocalists of the acclaimed University Singers. Now a graduate, he's passionately pursuing a musc career and presently working on his debut project. Be listening out for the rich, energetic vocals guaranteed to captivate your heart.OJ-Deru was one of the 12 finalists in the 2005 Red Stripe "BIG BREAK" competition from which he gained extensive exposure travelling the length of Jamaica and featured on several local and cable stations. He also performed on the small stage at the acclaimed Air Jamaica Jazz festival the following year (2006) to the delight of many new fans.OJ-Deru has shared stage with musicians and artists such as Shaggy, Luciano, Voice Mail, Stitchie, Buju Banton, Morgan Heritage, Christopher Martin, D-Major and Roots Underground.OJ-Deru has worked with some of the top veterans in Jamaica's music circuit, such as producers Mikey Bennett, Bobby Digital, Computer Paul and Kalibuds.
