About Me

Hey, we are Icarus. We formed in Somerset in 2007, after meeting through our secondary school with the aim of having a good time, and continue to meet that goal. These days, we have progressed to actually writing our own songs, and our aims have changed to include making emotive, half decent music with a real meaning behind it - and if it's shit Jordan (roadie) will tell us so.
As for the band, we’re all either fourteen or fifteen years old and influenced by a huge variety of things spanning through various genres of music, politics and life in general. There have been a couple of line-up changes over the time the band has been in motion, namely a change of drummer (Gus Clark) and the loss of singer (Dave Durant), but we remain good friends with both and continue to produce the same quality sound.
At the moment, we’re looking for gigs; big or small, we’ll be up for almost anything, and have played a good few of our own – we have a festival appearance lined up (among others) and recently reached the final of the SYS Battle of the Bands.
We hope you enjoy our past noises, present compositions and future brainchildren. Please feel free to leave us a comment about anything you want – compliments and gig offers are especially welcome...

Band Website: This, at the moment.
Band Members: Sean Flanagan:
Lead Guitar/Vocals,

Brendon Sweetman:
Piano/Rhythm Guitar/Vocals,

Peter Hallows:
Bass Guitar/Vocals,

Ben Talbot:
Drums & Percussion/Vocals.

Influences: Most Musical Genres, People, Poetry and Politics, Life, Hopes and Dreams, Emotions, The Weather, Fiction and Fact, Colours and Current Affairs, etc.
Sounds Like: Music from a classic 'Rock Band' line-up; that iconic Rhythm/Lead Guitar sound backed up with a Drum Kit and augmented with a deep Bass Guitar, lead through a Verse-Chorus-Bridge Structure by collaborated vocals, occasionally including the dulcet tones of a Keyboard in the place of a Rhythm Guitar for variation. Currently we sound fairly familiar as the majority of the songs we play are 'covers', soon we should have a sizable collection of our own songs but for now, don't expect much more than 10 minutes of Homegrown Icarus Material at live shows. Our own music will sound reasonably varied, catchy, fresh and at times impressionistic, progressive and both soothing and uplifting.
