Myopic Distortion

About Me

Myopic Distortion's Bio follows as chaotically and disorganized as it's myspace page. Begun briefly as a solo act by Matt in 1997 following the purchase of Korg Electribe synthesizer and drum machine. After mastering (er...poetic liscense?) the Korgs, Chris found some random electronic music toys and joined up.
What followed was 4 yrs of obscurity and nonsense after Chris moved to Maryland.
In 1998, or 1999 was it. Alex Brown, accompanied Matt to Cape Cod Massachussetts and spawned the lost Attic Sessions, a collection of dozens of songs mixed and remixed by the duo. With Matt recording rythms, melodies and drums, then passing it to Alex to add drum expertise and an industrial vibe to the music. Recorded to the now defunkt medium of Minidisc the mixes are being recovered only now (2008) with the hopes of remastering a few of the gems from the sessions w/ the experience gained over the past 10 years.
REUNION: 2001
Matt and Chris found themselves in college in Winona MN and joined forces once again. These sessions yielded only 3 tracks worthy of being recorded, which were put to CD and distributed outside the AREA:ONE festival in St. Paul. Responses were positive, electronic music fans enjoyed the tracks. However the Myopic gang were too disorganized to follow it up with an album.
The only live performance under the namesake was at the "Gaslight" show at St. Mary's University where the duo rocked the inebriated to a nostalgic remix/chop of the Tetris theme song. Three shows, and other than one incident of the Gameboy running out of batteries and hackish outfits, it was a large success.
Chris then left for bigger pastures on the East Coast, returning to Maryland. Myopic Distortion was again a solo act.
2001-2005
Many late nights were spent in front of a computer creating the still up-coming release titled "Insomnia Morning". These recordings see Matt go from simple one pattern melody and rythm to the experimental opus "Ebinflow" to the guitar driven "Sixes".
2005-Present
The group is in talks of collaborating more seriously, and getting some more worthy tracks out. The recent return of Alex Brown to MN and some collaboration with Ryan G. Place the future of Myopic Distortion in good hands.
