Summer Smash ’08: One Art, One Love is a diverse musical event with R&B, Hip Hop, and Rock all on the same stage. Created and organized by Rutherford County bred R&B singer Edgar ,along with local rappers, Jermaine Price aka Amon-Re, Calvin a.k.a. Ghost and Jose Ciznero aka Salud. They decided to use their love for the art of music to make a difference in their community. The concert will be held at the Foundation on the ICC campus in Spindale N.C. Saturday August 23, 2008. All artists will be performing original music from their currently released or up and coming albums. Show time begins at 7:00p.m.and ends at 10:00p.m.Tickets are $10 general admission and $12 the night of the show. Tickets will be available at the Foundation in July, but the four young men will be hitting the streets trying to pack the house out.
CAUSE: A portion of the proceeds from the concert will be donated to The Grace of God Rescue Mission, a local organization that provides shelter and meals for less fortunate people in the county. The Mission has a Men’s shelter that provides a place for men to stay for 30 days, a kitchen, showers, and a meeting room. Gail’s House, named after Gail Hogan, is the women’s shelter, for women and their children that have come on hard times. The Mission also has a substance abuse program that is a 60 day program for men that want help with their drug addiction. Evening meals are given out between 5:00p.m.-6:00p.m. seven days a week. Depending on the time of month, they feed 50-70 people in Rutherford County a day. The remainder of the profits will be used to ensure that this is not a one time event. This is a cause worth supporting This is going to be a show not to be missed so if you want to help your community and listen to great music at the same time come out and join us at the Summer Smash ‘08.
PERFORMERS: Acts to be performing include, Amon-Re, a local rapper who just released his first solo album and was a contestant in the ICC’s Got Talent Competition . He writes his own lyrics and produces his own music, clearly putting his heart into every track. Amon-Re is a rapper who is conscious of the problems of the world and locally, and it shows in his music. He will be sharing the stage with Color Your Fidelity, a local rock band that recently performed at the Foundation in a talent show for the American Cancer Society. With Brandon Washburn on the drums, Brandon Bergess on the vocals and guitar, Wilf Greene on vocals and guitar, and Chase on bass Color Your Fidelity is sure to be a hit on the local rock scene
Edgar Dickey provides a beautiful, soulful voice to music produced by Salud , Salud adds his original style of rap to the beat and this is the duo, Three. Three is a local R&B/Hip-Hop act who also released an album and will be performing songs from their album. Edgar has been around the country for many years pursuing a career in music with trips to Florida, California, and Chicago and airplay on a Connecticut Radio station. He has released several solo projects but, then met producer/rapper Salud and formed the duo Three. Salud has produced songs for several artists from Rutherford County to the state capital. He is a multitalented producer who has produced hip hop, r&b, and Rock, with air -play on 93.3 The Planet. Tired of being behind the scene, he decided instead to get behind the mic.
Ghost aka Hot Boy has released eight solo albums and is here with another one, still representing Street Light Entertainment. He produced all of his first solo projects and one for Edgar Dickey. The Street Light is still on, but Ghost has decided to reach out to fellow producer/ rapper Scarmega for a couple of tracks on this album. Scarmega will be performing a few of his songs at the show. He has been working around music for most of his life. Whether producing or spitting on the microphone, he is at home.
