About Me
V I S I O N A I R experience began in the lately 90’s, when Gianluca Botta (Naples, 1972) and Antonio D’Alterio decided to form a band in which join several previous musical experiences.Botta and D’Alterio played in many bands, respectively on vocals and guitars, performing covers from other rock bands.
Hence, D’Alterio joined Daniele Sollo (Naples, 1978) on bass, while Botta met his friend Dario Vacca, who proposed to play drums in the new line up.
Sollo, who had already played with D’Alterio in another funk-rock cover band, came from other experiences, spatiating from fusion to jazz-rock.So, the line up, so composed, began playing in various neapolitan clubs, performing cover form other artists and many original tracks. In this period, were composed two original tracks: “Memoria†and “Atarassìaâ€.
The need of the band was to have a keyboardist. The choice fell on Roberto Miele (Naples, 1968), with which Sollo had already played in a progressive band. The first to join to VisionAir, Miele had already played in various progressive bands and was working on a soloist musical project.Began, and then, the most prolific moment for the band, that, however, was marked also from Vacca’s abandonement, caused by personal reasons.
In this period were composed all tracks from first album, “Flashbackâ€, recorded in Italian language. This work, with some covers from other
progressive bands, was proposed in many concerts and festivals reserved for new artists.Year 2001 is marked by another unfortunate event: D’Alterio, one of the founding members, leaves the band. Following this event, begins a long period of pause, which lasts about six years. This period is characterized, however, by a desire to return to make music together, inspired, above all, by experience of musical artists such as Porcupine Tree, IQ, RPWL, Massive Attack and other prog-rock bands. Finally, in 2007, the band, formed by Botta, Miele and Sollo, reunite (as say…and then there were three…reminds you at something…?).
The result is the return of Botta, Miele and Sollo at stopped work, and that leads to the creation of three new original songs, contained in the forthcoming "InVisible Visions" album, recorded in English language. A totally different project from previous one: different sounds, musical approach and atmosphere than they create. For the band, 2008 is an important year. The band line-up includes, now, an other element: the jazz drummer Roberto Macrì (Naples, 1964); a very groovy drummer that had already played in various jazz and funk formations, and with which V I S I O N A I R will be present in the forthcoming live performances.the colour of infancy
