Michael J. Walenciej made his premiere as a pianist and violinist at the age of eleven. Soon after he began to study music history and composition specializing in the romantic period and new music. At the age of 16 M.J. Walenciej made his debut as a conductor directing the Ohio Bicenntenial Chorus. Since then he has directed many symphony orchestras, concert bands, and choirs. Over the past several years has made national premieres as a composer at several universities and conventions, most recently being a commission for the National Saxophone Convention held at the University of South Carolina. His teachers have included Robert Rollin of the Dana School of Music and Eric Ewazen of the Juliard School. M.J. currently takes an active role in the American Society of Authors composers and Publishers, American Music Center,Conductors Guild, and the Electronic Music Foundation.
