Notice the movies were made long before the albums
You know about DSOTM and The Wizard of Oz. What you don't know is that it didn't stop there....................
Another album to check out is "A Momentary Lapse Of Reason". Song 6 is titled "Yet Another Movie". This is the first clue that the album coinisides with another MGM film? Some lyrics in 'Learning To Fly', "UNLADENED EMPTY & TURNED TO STONE" & "SUSPENDED ANIMATION A STATE OF BLISS", reminded me of the classic 1981 film, CLASH OF THE TITANS". This film was nominated for Best Special Effects in 1982 for its use of claymation or 'suspended animation'. One Titan in this film is Medusa whose character, along with many others, is filmed in 'claymation'. One look from Medusa can turn any creature into stone. The only way to look at her is through a mirror. The front of the album shows a man looking into a mirror to see his surroundings with many empty beds. There are two other photos in the album artwork of people looking into mirros in order to see each other. In the movie, Perseus, must look into the reflection of his shield to see Medusa. The empty beds symbolizes the lives she has taken. START THE ALBUM IMMEDIATELY AFTER PERSEUS BLOWS THE HORN TO SUMMON THE FERRYMAN. At the start of the first Song "SIGNS OF LIFE", you hear a boat in water. This is the Ferryman approaching the shore. You'll hear what sounds like a drop of water as Perseus steps in the water. They cross the River Styx and as they hit the shore of the island the music coincides with the action. Perseus looks around and as he looks back on the Ferryman, and the music coincides with the camera action. They battle a two headed watch dog named Dioskilos during "Learning To Fly". They battle Medusa during the song "DOGS OF WAR". In the begining of the song you hear heavy breathing. This breathing is almost identicle to the heavy breathing of Medusa at this point of the movie. The lyric "DEALING IN DEATH IS THE NATURE OF THE BEAST", is a direct description of Medusa. The song "ONE SLIP" starts out quiet as the solders and Perseus sleep. Calibos (the villian) appears on the scene and the alarms in the song start to sound. (Much like in The Wizard Of Oz, when Miss Gulch arives the alarms in the song TIME sound). The first line in this song is "A RESTLESS EYE ACROSS A WEARY ROOM". During this lyric the film shows Bubo the owl keeping watch as he is half asleep. As the next lyric is sung, "A GLAZED LOOK AND I WAS ON THE ROAD TO RUIN", Bubo notices the Giant Scorpions. The lyric "I LED THE WAY TO THE FUNERAL PYRE", coincides with the fact that all the remaining solders die in this scene. "ONE SLIP AND DOWN THE HOLE WE FALL", relates to the fact that in this scene is a battle to the death. {There is a breath of air during this song at which point in the film a solder is stabbed in the back, by Calibos, and he breathes his last breath}. "WAS IT LOVE OR WAS IT THE IDEA OF BEING IN LOVE" relates to Perseus' love for Andromeda. "OR WAS IT THE HAND OF FATE THAT SEEMED TO FIT JUST LIKE A GLOVE", Zues tells Perseus to find and fufill his destiny in the film. "THERE WILL BE NO SLEEP IN HERE TONIGHT" relates to the idea that Perseus and the solders were awoken to fight for their lives. The song "ON THE TURNING AWAY" mentions the lyrics "THE WORDS THAT THEY SAY WHICH WE DON'T UNDERSTAND" relates to Bubo who speaks in clicks and whistles but only Perseus can understand him. Bubo is an owl, and in this song they sing the lyrics, "ON THE WINGS OF THE NIGHT", a direct reference to Bubo the Owl who is flying around in this scene trying to rescue Pegasus. "NO MORE TURNING AWAY" is sung as Bubo is flying turning around again and again to confuse his enemy. Song #6 "YET ANOTHER MOVIE", just about every lyric in this song relates to the movie and what is going on at the time of this song. "A NEW MACHINE Part 1" is played as the movie comes to an end. "TERMINAL FROST" is an instrumental song and plays during the movies closing credits. Terminal Frost happens to be the way the Titan Kraken dies as he's turned into stone by Medusa's head. The movie is over but the album continues to play "A NEW MACHINE Part 2" & "SORROW", the lyrics of both of these songs can relate to the movie.

The front of the album is pictured with military patches. The same military patches used in MGM's 633rd Squadron. A military movie made well before the release of The Final Cut.
