About Me


Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. At the age of 19, Lannie had the opportunity to attend the Berklee School of Music in Boston where he Graduated with a Bachelor's degree at the age of 23, majoring in arranging, composition and film scoring with piano as his main instrument. Lannie developed his love for jazz while attending Berklee and as his role models are such jazz greats like, Chick Correa, Herbie Hancock, Keith Jarrett, McCoy Tyner, Oscar Peterson & Bill Evans
Wanting to keep his Latin roots alive, Lannie moved to Miami, Florida in 1984 where he had the opportunity to work as pianist and musical director for the Fountain Bleu Hilton and also for known artists such as Willie Chirino, Nelson Ned, Jose Luis Rodríguez, "EL Puma" for ten years. During that time he produced numerous jingles for award winning Ad Agencies developing the commercial side of his profession.

Returned to Puerto Rico on 1994, founded the Hands in Motion Music, Inc. and worked as a freelance independent record producer & Commercial Jingle producer for many ad agency’s, radio and TV stations; while still performing as a jazz and pop artist through out Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, New York, Spain, Venezuela, Los Angeles and Florida.

In 1999, while touring with the Latin Pop singer sensation, Olga Tañon, Lannie participated as keyboardist for the Live CD Album recording ”Olga Viva, Viva Olga” House of Blues that won the Grammy in the "Merengue" category 2001 and was Nominated the previous year for the same category. Since then, Lannie has produced & directed numerous live jazz/pop concerts in Puerto Rico sponsored by the Heineken Jazz Concert Series with full endorsements from Panasonic and the Casio Instrument line.

With over 28 years experience in the recording industry as producer for other artists, he has skillfully and uniquely arranged, composed and added his songwriting abilities to productions for independent recording artist in the genres of Salsa, Latin Jazz, Latin Pop, Rock, R&B, Straight- up Jazz, Industrial, Bossa Nova, Hip-hop, World, Classic, Instrumental, Christian, Gospel and Children's music for live TV shows.

Created the Hands In Motion Latin Jazz Band in which he performs a vast repertoire of "standard" oldies such as; Yesterdays, Little Sunflower, Mambo Inn, Manteca, El Cumbanchero, Night In Tunisia, Oye como Va, etc., His combines his repertoire with some of his original compositions in the Latin jazz genres. His eclectic "Latino" style has been heard in many Jazz festivals including the Heineken Jazz Concert Series, Borinquen Jazz Fest, Rumbeando con Jazz, PR, Jazz del Patio Jazz Concert Series, PR, The Clearwater Jazz Holiday, St. Armand Jazz Fest in Sarasota, Picante Jazz Fest, PR, Summer Fest 2008, Largo- FL, The Florida State Fair 2008 and 2009, "Viva la Musica"09 Seaworld- Orlando, just to name a few.

Lannie has shared numerous live stage performances with known artists and groups such as: Giovanni Hidalgo, Dave Valentin, Papo Vazquez, Rie Akagi (The magic Flute from Japan), Charlie Figueroa, Humberto Ramírez, Luis "Perico" Ortiz, Batacumbele, and Jose Feliciano, to name a few. Also toured thru US and Latin America as keyboardist/pianist for internationally known Latin Pop artists such as Ednita Nazario, Olga Tañon & Victor Manuel.

At present, he is living in the Tampa Bay area as well as headquartered his Hands In Motion Music Production Studio and Ad Media Agency. When not on the road or performing locally, he does what he loves most, song writing and Producing CD albums for Independent Artists.

Finally after many years of not making "the time," Lannie begins his US / World Tour to promote his latest Latin Jazz Album CD by the last quarter of 2009. His "Hands In Motion" CD was released March 28, 2009 thru his independent label, HIM Music.

Profile – Hands In Motion Latin Jazz Band

Lannie’s band consists of an entourage of seasoned musicians that may include and not limited to: Jay Puente, "conguero & percussionist" from Tampa who mesmerizes the crowd with his polyrhythms at the congas drums and minor percussion. He has performed with artists such as master conguero Giovanni Hidalgo and has shared the stage with Bobby Cruz and Richi Ray. As "Timbalero,” the Puerto Rican, Benny Maldonado, who has performed with Adalberto Santiago, Cano Estremera & Nino Segarra. The bass player, Eddie Mercado, a skillful musician from Puerto Rico who has toured with the sensational "El Conjunto Quisquella" and "el Topo,” And the talented George Mancini, excellent trombone player, also resident of Tampa who got his music degree from Berklee school of Music in Boston and has performed with High profile artists such as Frankie Valle and Latin Jazz Great, Paquito de Rivera. Together, they perform a vast repertoire of Latin Jazz "standard" oldies and other Latin rhythms including Lannie’s own original songs in the Latin Jazz/smooth jazz genre.
