DAGGERFALLS

Daggerfalls' story begins in 2000, when Fred, Pat and Rick Lemire start jammin' in a rental studio, Studio Economik (html link: www.economik.com), just for the fun of it.
The friends, 'cause at that time they were'nt thinking about forming an actual band, where to play covers from america's golden metal years, i.e. Holy Wars (Megadeth), Without Judgement (Death), Gemini (Slayer), etc... Rick had once been in a band named DeathoNation in 1996 with Fred, but the project didn't work out for failure to maintain a decent line-up.
After a few weeks of drunken jams, the idea of composing an original song made its way, always just for fun. At the time, American metal legends are getting more and more commercially oriented, to the despair of true metalheads... The guys then started to explore what's happenning in Europe, discovering endless sources od inspiration in Hypocrisy, Soilwork, Dark Tranquility and, of course, In Flames.
The first original song nested from Fred's mad creating mind was Destiny's Script (released on Ice Castle - Frozen Dreams demo), which established the grounds on which was Ice Castle to be built. Other songs were composed weekly, the system remaining essentially the same: Fred delivering the rough inspiration while Rick worked on it for cool rhytmic purposes, and Pat for aggressive yet melodic voice lines. Little known fact: Fred was initially the band's lead singer, Pat being in charge of backing vocals.
Songs were achieved, jam sessions were going great, and M.A. then joined the band in 2001, after Rick noticed his skills in a college performance jam session. M.A. (AKA Ti-Brin) got in Ice Castle's musical style right from the start, being an adept of In Flames and, of course, Iron Maiden. M.A. brought to the Band everything it could have hoped, performing on top of the band's rich harmonics incredibly melodic bass riffs, too rare in that musical style.
During the next jam sessions, it was decided that Pat was to assume the lead vocals, being the composer of the lyrics, having worked on a voice range fore fitting to the genre, and that change allowing Fred to concentrate more on his growingly complex leads.
Ice Castle eventually records a demo called Frozen Dreams, and a true demo that is, recordings being made with jacks right into the computer, and the parts being recorded mainly one shot.
Soon after the "recording", Rick choose to part ways with the band, wanting to invest more time in his studies, which the Band understood. Rick Lemire brought to Ice Castle the rhytmic basis that still rules in Daggerfalls: a refusal of simplicity, a longing to improve endlessly.
Following the departure of Rick, Dave Dutil joined the Band. Dave brought to the band an improved rhytmical feel, while note compromising on the technical level. He is the mind behind the basis of songs Crystal Healing and Two Twenty-nine. Dave's availabilities not supporting Fred's frantic rhytm of composing, he eventually had to make place for Seb, Daggerfalls' actual drummer, and incidently Fred's brother. Dave is still close to the band, his opinion always being considered seriously, to a point where he got the honorific title of Daggerfalls' special cousel...
Seb, with is Old School Rock and Acid Jazz background which he integrated to Gene Hoglan style rhytms, brought to the band it's actual colour on the percussion's level, and he intends to keep on spilling his guts, always aiming higher.
With a new drummer, much original compositions on the shelves and a new demo project, Ice Castle became Daggerfalls, marking a new era in the band's history.
Daggerfalls recorded their demo entitled Six Month Nights in the summer of 2005, under direction of J.P. Latour (Talamyus), although many express the recording sounds closer to an mini-album than a demo. It's demo in the back pocket (proclaimed Profusion store's "coup de coeur", Daggerfalls signs a record deal with Great White North in fall 2005, and intends to deliver the goods in late 2006.
....Après avoir former Daggerfalls et passé plus de 5 ans avec et pratiquement la même gang! J'ai voulu rétablire certaine conviction mais sans succès. Alors j'ai dû prendre une décision pas facile mais juste pour chaqu'un d'entre nous. La vie est trop courte pour continuer de faire des choses sans avoir de plaisir et d'avancement. 2007 arrive bientôt et je vais continué avec Pat à la voix! Les Cartes sont misent.>
