Youth Cultural Center Abrasevic Believes that A different Mostar is possible And desires to build An open society founded on civic virtue Therefore Abrasevic searches for and applies alternative solutions in cultural, economic and political life as a response to negative trends in BH society.M A N I F E S TOKC Abrasevic originated from a need for an active and safe space which would offer citizens, and especially youth, the possibility for work and creative expression, cultural education, broad-minded social discussion, analysis and critque of contemporary BH and globalized society. Abrasevic grew (up) from the struggle of Mostar youth for a roof overhead, for a house whose foundation would be creative and intellectual freedom, egalitarianism, difference, social responsibility and solidarity.Our aim is the pursuit of alternative visions and models of global and social organization. We will continue to search for alternative solutions to the existing political, economic and cultural realities which have often been opposed to people's needs and aspirations, devastating human relationships and disrupting social cohesion.We will inform citizens and work toward: spreading liberal ideas, social rights, strengthening human rights, pluralization of ideas and organizations, freedom of the world and our environment from discrimination, domination, misuse and degradation of nature.Within our space, both physically and through media, there is room for the promotion of different social and cultural movements, different views of the world and local community, for controversy, discussion and dialogue.Our exceptionally important mission we also consider as directly including support of actions which are connected with alternatives – by democratic solutions, by actions which change existentially unsustainable states of mind and fundamentally oppose ghettoization, nationalism, reactionary conservative ideas and radical fascist politics and racist conceptions.Abrasevic does not give any space to materials, ideas and programs which propagate discrimination or totalitarian solutions, and those which exclude difference and the possibility of choice. We do not give any room in our space or programming to propagandistic messages, or to marketing campaigns of corrupt, compromised, multinational, and exploitive firms.The promotion of these types of attitudes and the creation of an alternative environment is the result of our belief in a society which needs to be composed of aware and active individuals who know how to take charge of their own lives and not people who relinquish decisions about their own life questions to others who gladly decide in their name. On us and on our engagement, civil movements and actions, depend what sort of world will be ours in the future and who will govern it.--------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------ABRAÅ EVIĆ SCENE The AbraÅ¡ević scene is an open space for different artistic strides and actions, which follow events in the world of the new and alternative art and their possible effect on culture and art in BiH and the region.
