About Me
With an intense appetite for life, Patrick McConnell, AKA Yung Saint, brings passion to his performances. Born in Madison, Wisconsin and brought up in the area, Saint has come a long way since he started free-styling and spitting lyrics at the tender age of thirteen. Although not a bad student, he spent more time in school reading books and magazines on rap music and the rap industry as well as writing songs in his notebooks. Saint spent days upon weeks daydreaming about being on stage and performing for crowds of people. It was over these shaping years that his fascination has turned into his obsession.Saint describes his music as “Hip Hop that people can dance to and have a good time.†Like many songs on the radio today, he writes music about his life experiences. As a youth and a young adult, Saint learned a good many life lessons, most of them the hard way. There were run-ins with fights, alcohol, drugs, and guns; all of which led to run-ins with the police. Against the odds and the many negatives that would put most performers down for good, Saint struggled and has overcome these obstacles and re-focused his life back on his music. Some have said that the concept of the white rapper has been overplayed. Saint disagrees and in fact turn uses that perception as an opportunity to make these same people into believers. Having never considered his music as a hobby, he tends to pour his heart and soul into making music that people can listen to, understand, and associate with. His songs are radio-friendly and their personal aspect allows the listener to experience the feelings and emotion felt while writing them.On his journey towards the top, Saint has renewed his passion and set lofty goals in an effort to make his dreams come true. He has recorded over 150 original songs in his home studio and produced and distributed three mix tapes of work. In addition to his own production, Saint has also worked with Paradyme Studios in Madison and most recently with Producer and fellow Flawlezz Entertainment rapper Great Hayz.Yung Saint has performed in many venues across the country with notable performances at The Barrymore Theater opening for Remy Ma and Terror Squad, the Hip Hop For Peace event, the New Loft Teen Center, the King Club, and the Dropfest Annual Car Show to a crowd of 7,000 plus listeners. In addition to writing, recording, and producing his own work, Saint has also taken on a grassroots campaign to stardom by promoting his material on Myspace, his own website, and through local promotion. Some dreamers believe they are superstars overnight. Most of them will never make it beyond their own basement in their head. Yung Saint has sweat blood trying to live his dream and knows the journey is far from over. He has the drive and fortitude to turn his basement dreams into a penthouse reality...
