MUSICAL CAREER:
Born in the rural town of Lauterbach in Germany's heartland in 1967, Markus Leidig took his first musical steps on an acoustic guitar, but he earned initial band experience as a teenaged drummer in a hard rock group named "Hardware". Soon after starting to perform at local events, he returned ruefully to his "six-stringed first love" though, beginning to write and compose his own songs and after 3 years with Hardware he took the chance and accepted an offer to join "Reculver", an award winnning classic rock band (winner of the 1987 "Fulda Newcomer Band Contest", participant of the "Hessen State Band Competition", winning the special award for best stage appearance) to perform all over Germany, as their singer and guitar player as well as their main songwriter.
But 16 years, two album productions and a 6-year-intermezzo as a singer and bass player for cover band "Touch Of Grey" later Markus broke all chains of being caught in permanent struggle of compromising as one member of a 5-piece-rock band and transformed from a whirling frontman to a contemplative solo performer, picking up the tradition of the great american songwriters. In the summer of 2004 he finally made a long term dream of his own come true by releasing his first solo album, entitled "The Blessingway", a collection of 9 songs of pure Americana, songs that tell about love, pain, solitude, joy or triumph. On this album Markus had recorded most of the instruments as well as the complete vocal parts himself. Several songs from "The Blessingway" made it to airplay on various country- and folk stations across Germany. Today, Markus still lives in the town he was born in with his wife and his son.MUSIC:
