Beautiful music is the art of the prophets that can calm the agitations of the soul...it is one of the most magnificent and delightful presents God has given us. ************************************************************
**********Born in Northern California of 1959; born not only to his parents, but born literally and figuratively into the world of Latin Rock, Funk and Jazz. A self taught musician who began at an early age of 7 years old playing a set of small wood bongo's, and playing to Beatles since they were the hottest band in America at the time, but in 1969 it was all about Carlos Santana.
Starting from the 1970s, Armando already impressive talent was influenced by such groups as, Santana, Malo, and Sapo. Then practicing to Artists such as Mongo Santamaria, Carlos "Patato" Valdez, Ray Barretto . The combined talents of these Bands and Artists increased Armando’s interest not only in music but also, in wanting to play the conga at heart. At the age of seventeen Armando with his first local group openned up for James Brown at the Santa Clara Fairgrounds(what luck!)but fun. Armando has been performing in the Bay Area with local bands for the last 30 years, playing in Local clubs and Festivals. These and many local groups here in San Jose have kept him active with his love for music. Many thanks have to be credited to Rudy Madrid for allowing Armando to continue his drive alive. As Raul Rekow of Santana once said to me "play not only one sytle of music but expand to other sytles as well".Armando has performed and recorded with some the following artist in the past - local bands: , Grooveline, Tortilla Soup, San Jose’s alternative rock band The Gents, The Kool Katz, Chepito Areas (Santana Rock Legend), Suave (w/George Santana), International jazz drummer Peppe Merrolla , International Persian Pop singer Andy Madadian and the latest group Ryze the Band. Armando is now perfoming as a freelance Percussionist for groups and recording studios.!
