About Me

Being creative with sound isn’t just a job, it’s a calling.
When you see pictures of me as a 4 year old, you’ll see me running through the sitting room with giant headphones on my head. I started playing music, when I was nine. At the age of eleven I bought a record player with my first savings. Recording the top 100 hits on those old-school funky cassettes was my favourite occupation, besides playing the saxophone.
When I was 14, I started playing in all kinds of small bands, some more successful than others. From then on I was confronted with PA-systems, wedges, desks with a lot of little freaky knobs… in small venues but also bigger ones like “sportpaleis”, “Arenbergschouwburg” etc.
Later on, I learned to play percussion and the baritone saxophone, in various styles. I am currently playing in a classical orchestra, a world music band, several cover bands, a small combo with whom we play jazz-standards and I’m even trying to be sexy on stage accompanying a DJ...
The frustration of having a bad monitor mix grew larger. I got interested, started wondering just how difficult it could be to make a decent mix and went on to study sound at RITS.
RITS is actually a film-school, so I learned how to complete film-, tv- and radioproductions at school. During weekends I worked for PA-companies, to acquire some experience. I graduated at RITS option sound with distinction in 2006. During the next year I studied part-time commercial science and kept working for live PA-companies. I worked as a soundengineer for many different really cool gigs, from theatretours in the Netherlands, to a bigband in the Natural History Musem (London), till even doing sound for a support act for the Belgian army in Kosovo.
In september 2008 I graduated with a first for my major project from an MA in audio production in London at the University of Westminster. Producing music was one of the main modules where I could benefit from having guestlectures from producers, who worked with Take That, Bjork, Boy George, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Spice Girls, Kylie Minogue, Sherryl Crow and many others.
And oh yes... I now do know where every single little weird freaky knob stands for and how to use it creatively...

BAM! What a great tour it has been already. We rocked the crowd at DOUR, CACTUS, VIJVERFESTIVAL, Terrabeats in BERLIN, 10DAYSOFF, SFINKS and lots of other great gigs. This short video was shot @ DOUR.For more huge Mundial Mash-Up parties check the gig section.

The Young Sinatras, the new big band vibe, Live @ Panama, Amsterdam 2008. In this video they perform Higher Ground. I recorded, mixed and mastered the complete DVD in Dolby digital Surround, DTS surround and stereo.

Er waren eens een DJ, een manager en een saxofonist.. Samen zijn ze zo vaak op pad, reizend van festival naar festival, van club naar club...dat zelfs de kleine dingen des levens aanleiding kunnen geven tot heuse discussies.
