Armando realized at an early age the power of music. “My aunt would give me a list of songs that she wanted me to record from her records onto cassette for her and her girlfriends. I recorded them in the order I wanted to hear them in. My aunt and her girlfriends loved it. Since then Armando’s been in love with the “Mixâ€. Sometime in the mid-eighties Armando picked his first pair of 1200’s. He would ditch school to buy records so he could have a new mixed tape for school the next day. At the time Armando was heavily influenced by some of L.A.’s hottest DJ’s such as Tony G., Frank Del Rio and DJ Debonair. In 1986 Armando started his first DJ Crew and through that crew he was given the opportunity to spin at some of L.A.’s hottest nightclubs on the L.A. disco scene such as DQ’s, Alexandria Hotel, and The Casa Camino Real. While spinning disco classics like Living On Video and Spin It, Armando was introduced to the love of his life……House Music. In 1988 Armando met some promoters that were bringing the House vibe to L.A. through a nightclub they called Spectrum. There, he was given an opportunity to express himself through another style of music different than he was accustomed to. He was home. In 1989 while still spinning his house music Armando through some roady work for an audio visual company ended up being asked to dance on Soul Train. Through Soul Train Armando got more into the hip hop scene and started spinning at more hip hop nightclubs such as Glam Slam and Billboards, Hollywood. Armando spent the next 11 years DJing for every Soul Train Award Show event , for such labels as MCA, Interscope, and Death Row Records and TV shows like The Arsenio Hall Show and BET’s Sprite Night. During this time he also worked production on such TV shows as The Jamie Fox Show, The Keenan Ivory Wayans Show, and Mad TV. In 2001 Armando teamed up with a promoter that was involved with a handful of nightclubs in Hollywood. For the following 3 years Armando held residencies at spots like Keyclub, Barfly, The Ivar and Sunset Room. In between his residencies he held guest spots at The Highlands and The Standard. Armando became restless spinning for a mainstream crowd all the while still buying and loving house music and trying to fit in a house set where ever he played. Since 2004 Armando has shared a residency at Descarga, an Afro-Latin themed event held monthly in Los Angeles. “I love playing at Descarga. The crowd appreciates good music. As long as I keep them on the floor I can pretty much play what I want. I don’t have to stick with a program dictated by mainstream radio. I love it.†Armando is currently producing and hosting his own internet radio show on
