BIOGRAPHY OF “YOUNG SCRAPâ€
One of eleven kids, “Young Scrap†was born “Mark A. Greene†on 09-08-89 in the city of Los Angeles, California. Having come from a large family of eleven brothers, and sisters, he learned from an early age in life, that nothing comes easy. His dad instilled in him that if you wanted something, you’re going to have to work very hard for it. Hailing from Inglewood, California, Scrap first became involved in the performing arts at his aunt’s dance studio, and thus, he became active in tap and jazz, modern, and lyrical dance styles over a period of thirteen years. During that time he lived with his father, and was really into music. He listened to Rap and R&B. He was so captivated by it; he started writing at the tender age of 7 years. He has had the honor of performing with dance legends Debbie Allen and Savion Glover, and performed in the world-renowned plays, “Bring in the Noiseâ€, “Bring in the Funkâ€, and “Brothers of the Nightâ€. At the age of twelve, he began dancing with Tommy the Clown and earned his name Young Scrap because of his tenacious habit of scrapping, or fighting. His first street performance at thirteen earned him an appearance on the Tommy the Clown DVD, and at fourteen he did his very first battle zone dance-off with Tommy the Clown’s team. Scrap then moved to Maryland, where his dancing career halted.Young Scrap’s passion for music began at an early age of seven, however, when his uncle opened a record company, that inspired him to begin writing music. During the summer of 8th grade, he wrote his first song entitled “Can We Beâ€, and performed an early song of his, 2 Fly, a first non-dance feature on his part. In his 9th grade year, various A&R personnel from his uncle’s record company began to notice the young talent and he recorded his first track that year, along with his first record company audition that summer. In the beginning of his sophomore year of high school, he completed his first album entitled Puppy Power, which sold approximately 1000 copies in the Greenbelt/Fulton area in Maryland, with the help of his friends. Throughout this year, Scrap worked with “After 6 Productions†where producer Aaron Sneed worked with him on tracks including “Can We Beâ€, and “Business is Businessâ€. That summer he began working with AMG Management, who were responsible for artists such as B2K, Unique, and All 4 One, and recorded the official Homeboy remix with “JoJoâ€, and a separate track with “Lil Fizzâ€.In April of 2006 he began working with Warner Bros. and teamed up with A&R Guy Perotti of Music box Productions. He has many talent show performances under his belt, including Teens Count, Academics World Tour, Hi 5 Teens, Jim Harrison Talent Co., Samantha Cohen Talent Search, Apollo, and various school performances and local talent shows in the Baltimore/DC area. Performing as a vocalist is also Young Scraps forte. He is one of the founding members of the singing group “1 Voiceâ€. Group members Ché (Chauncey) and Young V (Vinny) still remain, but the group originally started out with Ché and Scrap singing in school together before Young V expressed his vocal talents, landing him with a permanent spot in the group while original fourth member “John Canales†also proved to have impressive and reliable vocal talents. The group was originally called “Young Souljasâ€, but the three decided that the name “1 Voice†would be more appropriate because of how they harmonized. The group went through various members coming and going before eventually settling on a trio comprised of a mix between R&B and hip-hop styles. Young V and Che specialize in singing and harmonizing and Scrap specializes in adding his own flair to their music with his rapping talent. At the age of 19, Young Scrap has made himself known to many of his friends and fans as an excessively talented aspiring rapper/singer in the hip-hop and R&B genres. Inspired by artists such as Jin, Usher, Shai, and Boyz II Men, he has collaborated with various music producers and solo artists to make his name, music, and image a regular occurrence in the eyes and ears of his adoring fans and loving supporters. They have advanced lyrically and socially as a group and as icons to their peers and fellow aspiring musicians.“Young Scrap†continues to impress those around him with his unfaltering persistence and immense talent. Through his own hard work and dedication, as well as the support of his friends and family, he has made great steps towards fulfilling his dream of becoming a professional music artist, with his name becoming a regular household occurrence throughout the country. More importantly, he has acknowledged that it is the fans that will decide whether or not he achieves his goal and consistently offers his love and everlasting gratitude to all those who promote him.Foot notes:• One of eleven kids, moved from Los Angeles to Baltimore M.D. to help his mom take care of little sister.
