Gully Bank Musik Ltd
Was started in 2007 by two long-standing friends, Producer David scorpion and Singer Doniki to release a body of work that they had been recording together. At the same time they formed Gully Bank Publishing Ltd to ensure control over their publishing.
The two companies were formed primarily to release Doniki’s work, and to cover the two song writers works, but with a view to work with other Artists who can fit in with the two companies Musical vision. So far projects with Jamaican songstress Etana and Gully Bank musik’s new Artist Leontre have already been undertaken.
So far four Jamaican Pre-release 7†singles have been released on the Gully Bank musik Imprint. They are all taken from Doniki’s Forth coming Album Gully Bank. The first single Gully Bank was released in July ’07; Life Of The People followed in November ’07 and March’08 saw the release of Rasta and Kingston. These together with Gully Bank Pt2 and Hail Di Man Deh have all been receiving daily rotation throughout Jamaica on all radio stations.
Worldwide the radio play is already building and all the singles have received glowing reviews in the highly regarded publication Echoes magazine, who’s reggae reporter John Masouri recently held an in-depth interview with the Producer .The Singer and producer also were interviewed in the Jamaican Daily Observer and more press interviews are lined up to correspond with the Album release date. The videos for Gully Bank and Life Of The people both went to No1 on the RE TV most requested video chart and are getting regular play on many Television channels.
This site has now been started as just one way to keep up with release dates , tour information and to help widen the listening audience. It will be regularly updated , so check the blogs as they are posted to keep abreast of what is happening on the Gully Bank.
Gully Bank Musik is all about creating musik, which is timeless, that a radio Dj can be given five minutes before they go on air, and know they don’t have to edit before it is suitable for airplay. It is about making musik you don’t have to turn off because a child or your Grandmother has entered the room, but at the same time it is about producing entertaining but yet still thought provoking songs. Gully Bank Musik is about creating anthems to be played in the Dancehall now, and that will be still played in people’s homes for many years to come. This can only be achieved by continuing the company’s high production standards and by continuing to work with the very best Musicians and Engineers.
Longevity is the key; Gully Bank Musik is a forward thinking company, who uses traditional live recording techniques to produce real authentic Jamaican Reggae Musik that can stand the test of time. It is not here to simply nyam Reggae dinner, it is here to feed a nation musically!
