About Me

My Pen. My Music. is dead. We appreciate every band we corresponded with here so much. However, we've moved on to bigger and better things. You can now find us at www.music276.com and www.myspace.com/music27sixThe same staff comprises Music 27:6 as comprised My Pen. My Music. We are still about the musicians and the fans. We still want to cover your band/you friend's band/any band no matter how big or small, and we're still going to have fun. What you CAN expect under the new site is weekly updates. There will be 2 or more new interviews for you every week, at least one band to know and love, 2 or more reviews, and more. You'll also find news (including music news and upcoming tours), media (pictures/videos/etc.), music-related editorials and articles in our Features section, and Guides such as the Warped Tour Survival Guide. You can also find information on advertising for your band, photography, clothing line, etc. (Our ad prices are dead cheap right now!) as well as information on how to become a writer/photographer for Music 27:6. And if you're none of the above and just want to read things, feel free to visit out Contact page, grab our e-mail, and tell us who you'd like to see on the Music 27:6 Home page.Either way, all online updates are free. We've been talking about an eventual downloadable/print edition for a small fee, but we will still have free online content even if/when that happens.

Buy This Album:
Buy: The Devil Wears Prada With Roots Above and Branches Below
Here's Why:
In spite of the album name that comes off a bit pretentious in my opinion, this CD is..is.. I'm not even sure I have the words to describe it. The album debuted at #13 on the Billboard 200, and is currently at 11. And yes, oh yes, it deserves to be ranked higher. This is quite frankly THE best album I've heard all year (The Chariot and The Decemberists were decent). My jaw is on the floor. This is an evolution of The Devil Wear's Prada sound, and the band is proving without mercy or remorse why they're largely considered the founders of metalcore and the rulers of the subgenre. The eerie sound effects are better, the vocals are better, the overall quality is better, the breakdowns are better, the music is just such a superb advancement that it deserves a trophy. Old fans, you'll be happy. New fans, you will exist.By the way, readers, if you weren't aware, you can listen to 25 songs for free a month if you sign up for rhapsody (the free version). That is how I'm currently rocking this album.
Previous "Buy This Album" Albums:
The Chariot - Wars and Rumors of Wars Haste the Day - Dreamer Emery - While Broken Hearts Prevail Showbread - Anorexia
Showbread - Nervosa
A Bullet For Pretty Boy - Beauty In The Eyes Of The Beholder
Affiance - The Calm Before The Storm
Previous "Don't Buy This Album" Albums:
Family Force 5 - Dance Or Die
Feel free to ask me about any of the previous (Don't) Buy This Album albums. I'd be happy to rave on and on about how awesome (or unawesome) these CDs are.
