The legendary Swedish composer and pioneer of electronic music
Ralph Lundsten
and
experimental constellation
Neurobash
have joint forces in an extraordinary musical space adventure, entitled:
THE NAKED MOON AND THE VIRGIN SUN
...
THE NAKED MOON AND THE VIRGIN SUN is the result of blending the unique talents and analogue equipment of Ralph Lundsten with the unconventional musical approaches and mainly computer-based tools of Neurobash. The combination is truly exceptional and the collaboration is the first of its kind foremost for Ralph Lundsten, but also for the constellation Neurobash. The meeting between two generations of electronic music has been eventful.
“There have been come real challenges during the projectâ€, reports Patrick of Neurobash, “mostly in regards to the combination of analogue and digital equipment. We are used to work with precise measures, but there really is no way to do that with much of Ralph’s instruments. Part of the Andromeda Studio consists of the very first real synthesizers ever constructed – they simply don’t have any synchronization. We had to find ways around that. It has been testing at times – but at the same time a fantastic adventure.â€
And yes, THE NAKED MOON AND THE VIRGIN SUN is truly an adventure. The featured compositions evolve around a fictional story of the future of Earth and mankind’s voyage into the unknown of space – all the way to the Andromeda galaxy. The sound and melodies are as unexpected as the destinations and events, with vocals sung in space-suit helmets, instruments that have evolved through eons of imagination and sound that have been reconstructed from fictional future recordings.
Ralph Lundsten has been active as a composer since 1959 and is one of the true pioneers of electronic music. Some of his first custom built electronic instruments from the early sixties have been used to create the soundscapes of the joint adventure. Neurobash, elected national band of the micro nation of Ladonia, was formed in 2004 and has since composed pop-influences experimental music suitable for art galleries as well as electro club scenes.
The release date for the physical CD is 2008-06-03 and an Internet-single is planned to follow shortly.
A series of live performances to promote the album is under planning together with digital sound performer and inventor David Yanagisawa and his amazing Toncolarium.
