Kottonmouth Kings front man Daddy X's legendary punk outfit Humble Gods set the record straight on "Born Free" a 17 song true school punk rock classic.
"The universe works in mysterious ways, life can be so unpredictable at times and you can never know which way the road will turn," explains Brad Daddy X, Humble Gods Front man and vocalist. "When Jason Thirsk ( Pennywise ) joined the Humble Gods and recorded the " No Hero's " record with us, we never could have imagined that he would take his own life just before the release." After some reflection, the band were blessed to have rock goddess Bianca Wilson join the Humble Gods. Six months into some intense touring, the band was caught up in the Christian Coalition backlash with Insane Clown Posse and Danzig over at Hollywood Records and all promotions for the Humble Gods CD, " No Hero's," stopped. So, Brad Daddy X hopped back in the studio to finish his other project at the times "Kottonmouth Kings." Brad X started Suburban Noize Records to release Kottonmouth Kings 1st release and the rest is history.
Humble Gods stopped playing shows but the nucleus of the band remained intact. Lou Dog, joined Kottonmouth Kings as their full time drummer, Doug Carrion began running the office at Suburban Noize as well as recording with Brad X and the Kottonmouth Kings. Ricky Vodka continued to creatively work with the camp doing art and videos in addition to his band Motochrist.
As in life, tragedy struck again and one of our good friends, Bianca Wilson was killed in a car accident in New Orleans while on tour with her all girl band, "Betty Blowtorch" one of the most kick ass bands around.
Kottonmouth Kings continued to tour and record through out the late 90's to present time. The Humble Gods would contribute and record the punk songs for the Kings collaborations, on such tracks as Spies, Dying Daze, Bi-Polar, Subnoize Ratz Zero Tolerance, Full Throttle, Soul Surfing, Pushing Limits. The feedback had been so positive on that dimension of the Kings, that Brad Daddy X and Doug Carrion decided it was about time to record a full length Humble Gods record for Suburban Noize. The outcome was a 17 song all out assault of "True School Punk Rock." Some crucial musicians came by the studios to help make the Humble Gods vision a reality. Josh Freeze - Vandals - Perfect Circle, put on a drum clinic, Byron McMackin - Pennywise brought in the rapid fire quickness while Tom Brayton from the Dwarves, Scott Koziol and Brad Gordon rounded out the players.
