Popular Dupont Circle sushi bar featuring weekly karaoke, Cafe Japone offers sushi fans, tourists, hipsters and locals a dark, neon-lit den of delights. You can't miss the smoke-filled, sing-along dive on P Street -- just look for the larger than life black and white sumo wrestler painted over the brick wall by the entranceway. Wednesdays features live jazz, a nice interlude for the midweek blues. Sipping sake and Sapparo seems to prime songsters for karaoke that starts at 9:30 and makes choosing a song much more difficult. There are thousands of titles to choose from -- roughly 14,000 in English, 8,000 Japanese and 300 Spanish. Behind the crooners on stage, a flicker of odd mismatched videos play on a screen. You'll find decent sushi but expect a cover charge to get in. For less rowdy dining try the downstairs restaurant that serves innovative fusion cuisine.
