SOULZ OF THE SUN

About Me

Shannon Walker--Born singing in the beautiful state of New Mexico, music has always been everything to me. Since elementary school to graduating best female musician in high school I knew it was my calling and my passion. Hit the scene shortly after school with a variety of bands doing a lot of Funk, Soul and R&B. Bands like "Mama Knows", "The Funktion", and "Shake". I became a memeber of an original band called the "Groove Junkies" where I wrote and created some great music and experience. Went on the road and checked out this crazy nation. People were great and showed much love to the Groove Junkies. Unfortunately we all had different destinys. I was living in Taos (a very spiritual place), I really got down and dirty with my singing. I started singing Jazz which turned my world around. I knew if I could sing Jazz I could sing anything. That opened the door to a beautiful realm of all kinds of music. I eventually moved to Chicago, thats where I really grew up and had some hard times, but that really helps for song writting, alot of feelings. I came back to New Mexico to start a new page in my life. I knew something was suppose to happen. I threw myself back into the music and it saved me. I started doing some work in the hip hop scene with some friends of mine "Tabulrasa" and led to other great projects. I am now working with the amazing 22 Spinx, where my whole world has changed. He is an amazing poet as well as an amazing person that I care for very deeply. He keeps that fire lit for the music and pushes me to achieve my goal, which is to make the best music I can and stay humble while doing it. Definately keep a look out for the callabo album "Come one come all" comin at you soon. Much love, peace and harmony to all.....Enjoy the music---22 Spinx--I ain't really got a band because people get scared to blow up ,so I just rap to beatz and bless mics when cat's are ready to record. I started making hip-hop at a young age in my little ass room about 1992, I was doing music with my homies black rain, aka D-fine and my other boys master p aka mic deakon and he had to change the name when commercial rap began to hit the radio and stuff, we had the white assassin, red villan, who you all know as willy carson, Goldie the funky ass J-fresh, and his brother mel-ski(RIP). he taught people how to spit styles and always keep balling, I see you ski. I used to just make tapes and bumrush parties, ready to play my songs in your deck, we'd sit outside st-ides, mickeys, old-e's and a boombox, creating all day, the way hip-hop was supposed to be before cat's got greedy and started making horseshit. WE all played hoops together and chiiled, black joe, I ain't forgot about you. After releasing my first tape, "The three million dollar man", We started working on the follow up " blackout" before meth and red had the title and bootcamp. This had the homie zaire black and ketchup, who did their thing with emmoworks plus the last man who lived right across the street, can't forget about zio,and dj drez, 2 of the first dj's I ever met. I than ventured out with my rhyme partner don jaymes, we started making music with this label supreme kourt for about a year, with the other tribe "students of life", a group my brother introduced me to. we than moved into the trenches of la veta grand. We made music in this apartment where freddi vinyl was killing production and getting some of the younger headz on tracks- Faze1,Gravity,poetik-kam,destruction,virus, the original 3rd eye chemists, Cant wait for the album guy's. now I'm up in new mexico ready to drop the final chapter, chilling wit a beautiful singer shannon walker The albums called "realm of the master" , It's just an album withnothing but truth and raw skills, nothing but love to a true ass head, beats ,rhymes, and real feeling on tracks, Spoken word is a group I get down with to, shinobi, dire and cannibal with phillip wood as the artist prepare "get ready for the revelution". hochii enough respect ,kb and native eye....---Cas_Uno--A proper emcee should represent all the crucial elements of the hip hop culture: graffiti art, break dancing, turntablism and rhyming. Without those, hip hop doesn‘t exist. Santa Fe-based artist, Cas_Uno, is a veteran emcee with years of experience and a slew of successful shows under his belt who consistently reps every aspect of the coveted culture. In 1993 when Cas was in his sophomore year of high school, the allure of hip hop culture started to take hold. He began to take it seriously once he moved to Arizona and participated in “Freestyle Fridays” in downtown Tempe. The infectious energy he felt was enough to get him hooked. With the proverbial ball rolling, he linked up with other like-minded artists in the area and “got his chops” at a local event called ‘Ancient Chinese Secret Night.’ Eventually, he joined the first of many hip hop collectives, Blowup Co-Op. Their established “Wicka-Wicka Wednesday” nights exploded into an underground scene large enough to attract the attention of promoters. Cas soon found himself and the rest of the crew opening for national acts such as Cypress Hill, The Shapeshifters, De La Soul, Linkin Park, Sole of Anticon Records, Scarub of The Living Legends, CunninLynguists and Abstract Rude. Around the age of 26, Cas was steadily gaining momentum. Showing no signs of slowing down, Cas decided to settle in New Mexico. He thought he could help establish a scene in the thirsty town of Santa Fe. There he collaborated with local DJ/emcee Perish One. Together they formed Mentill State and performed diligently around the area. After just a year and a half, Cas, once again, got restless and escaped to Austin, Texas in 2004. Cas was slapped in the face with an entirely different world of music. Back then, the chopped and screwed style of rap was popular which was a genre he was not trying to develop. However, Cas embraced the challenge. He adapted his production technique and the result was a more soulful sound. In 2007, he returned to New Mexico, this time with child. “Having a child changed my thought process. Now I focus on trying to educate kids through my more mature lyrical content and create more uplifting hip hop, “ he says. Currently on his mission to bring back the roots of hip hop, Cas is focused on new material and performing. Cas is undoubtedly one of the freshest voices to come out of New Mexico in a long time.---Dj Ron DADA--My name is Ron Dada... I was born in tha 505 and i'll die in tha 505... Music is my life...
