I am Lakotah and i shake your hands with my heart!
I am mixed blood of Jewish and Lakotah background, the Jewish from my mother, i had a great Uncle who came back from Belsen Concentration camp and the Lakotah/Dakotah from my father who is related to the Red Cloud, Hollow Horn Shell, Marshall families among many others!
I am a Flautust singer and Dancer, i have won Womens Northern Traditional and Switch dance contests which i am proud of.
In 2007 with my cousin Hakikta Najin Jordan i travelled from Stuttgart to Garmisch visiting Patch schools for the US Army helping them to celebrate Indian Heritage and teach about Indian culture past and present, i was awarded a medal of apprecition by the Commander, which was a huge honour for me.
In 2007-8 i was instrumental with USAF US Airforces Mildenhall and Lakenheath in helping them to celebrate Native American Heritage Month by visiting several schools on the air bases which was met with great reception and respect, i was made an Honorary member of the 351st Air Refuelling squadron, USAF Mildenhall and wear my patches with honour and pride.
I have helped bring awareness and raise money for Sunka Wakan Na Wakanyeja Awicaglipi, the lakotah horsmanship society which teaches our children about being horsmen and women again, a worth while cause.
I also give my complete backing to Russell Means, now known by his Lakota name Oyate Wacinyapin who is the driving force behind the Republic of Lakotah.
December 07 we pulled out of the broken treaties and reclaimed our freedom, as stated back in 1807 by United States Government Law! we are still a Sovereign Nation! therefore i give up my american name and use my Lakotah Name, ShunkahaWanagiwin, this is a name given to me by Frank Fools Crow in South Dakota when i was young it means Shewolf GhostWoman, i am named partly after a relative who was murdered at Wounded Knee, December 29, 1890 by the 7th cavalry of the US Army, they were awarded medal of Honour for their part! i call then medals of dishonour and many people are trying to have these medals recindered.

I have been playing indigenous flute for a few years now and i still get much pleasure from singing with the standing people (the trees) and Tate (the wind) who carries my ancestors voices.
I also play accoustic and electric guitar and the hand drum, i sing traditional songs and contempory.
