If you were to die today, do you know absolutely for certain that you would go to Heaven? Some people feel that they have done their best to live a good life and they are just as good as the next person but the Bible says in Romans 3:23 that “ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God”. If you have ever told a lie, even one, you are a liar. The Bible says in Revelation 21:8 that all liars will have their part in the lake of fire. You may have never committed adultery, but Jesus said in Matthew 5:28 that if you even look upon a woman to lust after her, you have already committed adultery with her in your heart. You may have never murdered, but again Jesus said in Matthew 5:22 that if you are even angry with your brother without a cause, you are in danger of the judgment.Some people live a “good” life and believe because they go to church or have been baptized or give a lot of money to their church, God will be pleased and they will go to Heaven because of their good works but the Bible says in Isaiah 64:6 “all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags”. There is nothing we can do to earn salvation. It is a free gift.Salvation is by faith and faith alone in Jesus and his death on the cross for you. Ephesians 2:8-9 says “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast”. Jesus Christ took the punishment we deserve for our sins on the cross. He died that we might live.If you don’t have the peace that comes from knowing where you will spend eternity, the Bible tells you how you can be sure. Just follow the Roman’s road:Romans 3:23 “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."Romans 10:9 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."If you have never received Jesus into your heart by faith in Him and His finished work for you on the cross, you can do so right now by praying a prayer like this:“Dear Jesus, thank you for dying for me. I am sorry for my sins and I turn from them now. By faith I give my heart and life to you. Please come into my heart and save me for all eternity.
