I mixed these tracks down using headphones which I personally think gives a better listening experience for this music/// ///I wrote this album all on me lonesome, I'm a singer/songwriter and composer interested in exploring different kinds of musical possibilities. As a gay man, I'm particularly interested in writing intelligent, creative music and lyrics that come from a view point of my life experience without pandering to the commercial mainstream. However, I love pure pop and I have a gift for a catchy tune/// ///Covered in Confetti is an album of eleven songs. The title track (not included on here) refers to the change in British law allowing same sex couples the right to a civil ceremony giving them similar legal rights to married straight couples. I also like the analogy of words being sprinkled with music. I've attempted to subtley work this theme throughout the whole album, and merge the idea of finding a lover with the delight of finding my own musical voice. The last song on here "Two Boys Hanging" was provoked by seeing photos of two teenage boys hung to death in Iran for being lovers/// ///My basic musical starting point for this album was to explore writing loops for song construction, and to do away with any attempt at musical development, apart from possibly in vocal, interweaving melodies. I think I see the electronic loops basically as textured drones as a platform to improvise vocal melodies over, and any use of harmony is mainly colouristic and for creating punctuations/// ///I would love to hear some feedback on my album. I currently have notebooks and materials for a second album, but don't feel comfortable working on it properly yet. I wrote Covered in Confetti as a purely personal project, where for my next, I'd like to understand more clearly who my audience is. I'd also be interested to hear from other musicians, artists, film makers who'd be interested in exploring collaborative possibilities/// ///Best Wishes x x x

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: just me so far, but I'm interested in collaborating with people who don't have a fixed idea about music genres
Influences: My desire to write this particular album comes from my interest in influencial, gay creative people who communicate their personal experience in their work. For me, David Hockney and the poet C.P Cavafy have been major influences. Important musical influences include Aphex Twin, Bjork, The Beach Boys, John Cage, Steve Reich and the Smiths, plus clubbing alot in the 90's (where I danced all night without having a clue what to) though Dee Lite's Groove is in the Heart would always excite me. I love the punk attitude, simple folk music and J S Bach. My suprise favourite song at the moment is Tracy Ullman singing Kirsty MacColl's They Don't Know (though I only heard this recently after I'd completed my current album.
Sounds Like: I'd be interested to hear what people think
