About Me
Bio/HistoryGrapeTree Records began in 1994 founded by Knolly “Rubadub†Williams and his wife Josie Williams. What began as an idea that Kolly believed was giving to him by the Lord, quickly blew up to be a nationwide urban movement. GrapeTree began to see success in the Christian Music industry releasing Artists such as True II Society (Sir Fish and Pooh), Lil Raskull, Nuwine, L.G. Wise, Prime Minister, Preachas In Da Hood, Bruthaz Grimm, GOG’z, SYG’s, Ayeesha, DCP, Antonious, Christ Fa Real, J-ROC, Mr.Real, Mystery, Crow, Amani, E-ROC, Blaq Gold, Terrance Harper, Gino V., Gino Brown, Kandle others. After the label was retired in 2002, many of the Artists from the GrapeTree Family continues in the mission and Ministry to the streets. This myspace page was created to honor the GrapeTree movement and the Artists who still continues in the mission of preaching the Good News of the Gospel. Thousands of souls was won to Christ during the years of the GrapeTree movement, and the Fruit from the Tree still yet continues to increase. Many of the GrapeTree Artists received a lot of the hardcore persecution that it took to push this urban style of Ministry to the Church crowd. Known to many church foulk as “Those Gangstersâ€, the GT Artists learned to stay focused on the Mission. The Mission was not to the Church but to the Lost, and that’s why at that time the Church didn’t understand them, but hoods across the U.S. embraced them.Ghetto Missionaries explains it all. Some missionaries are sent to Africa, some to China, some to Iraq, but how many are sent to the Ghettos across the United States. At the time when Christian Rap was completely rejected by youth groups around the U.S., these Artists had to learn the hard way that Ministry is not always comfortable. Turning on the television and seeing artists like Pac with his worldwide Thug Life movement, and then go to the church and be rejected for trying to rap for Jesus Christ was not easy to endure. But just as Paul and Silas gave praise to God while in prison chains, nothing can stop the Power of the Living Christ. GrapeTree Records was the original driving force that helped the Christian Rap industry and the Artists gain national attention and recognition. The Ghetto Mission Continues.
