About Me

Drummer & instructor extraordinaire. I LOVE my life - wouldn't change a thing! If you knew how to do what I know how to do you'd always smile too....because it's SO MUCH FUN! Born in 1965 70 miles south of New Orleans (Houma, LA), I first started playing my Ma's Tupperware bowls when I learned how to hold wooden spoons (or so she said). Many, many toy drums with paper heads followed. I busted those things all the time - until I got my first snare drum at 10 years old. Joined elementary school band & played the crap outta 'Mary Had A Little Lamb' & 'Camptown Races'. Got a kit (blue Royce) at 12 & began lessons with Nolan Harris. He was a Jazz saxophonist that didn't know a thing about playing drums. Mr. Harris taught me how to read drum set music, charts, & lead sheets. My parents bought me a brand new Ludwig natural maple kit when I was 15. It's the ONLY kit I've owned since. It's been everywhere with me since I got it in 1980. After that, among other things, this stuff happened: Bachelor of Music degree from Berklee College of Music (Performance Major). XanaX 25 (aka X25) - "Denial Fest" (Mechanic Records) - "Tidy" (Paradigm Records) -7 North American tours including 3 H.O.R.D.E. tours in support of Blues Traveler, Lenny Kravitz, Gov.’t Mule, King Crimson, Son Volt. Played timbales on "One Way Out" with The Allman Brothers Band at The Beacon Theater in NYC by the request of Warren Haynes. Mono Puff (John Flansburgh – They Might Be Giants) - "It’s Fun To Steal" (Bar/None Records). Human Drama - "Cause and Effect" (Projekt Records). Damien Youth - "A Box and a Veil" (Zygote) - "Alchemy" (Zygote). Raging Slab - "The Dealer "(TeePee Records) - "Pronounced: Eat Shit" (TeePee Records) -3 North American and 2 European Tours with The Supersuckers, Monster Magnet, Queens of the Stone Age, The Hellacopters. Sound of the Blue Heart - "Beauty?" (Projekt Records) - 2 Headlining Mexico Tours. House drummer for Bayberry West Studio and Mixing Room Studio. Many media music credits including: - Austin Powers in Goldmember (New Line Cinema) TV trailer - Jackass: The Movie (MTV Films) TV trailer - I’ll Be There (Morgan Creek/Warner Bros.) Theatrical trailer - American Dreams (NBC) - Bachelorette (ABC) - Numerous TV and radio commercials including Gillette, Coke, Apple iPod, Chevrolet, GMC trucks, Wendy’s, Burger King, Budweiser & many more. TEACHING EXPERIENCE: 1980 – 1983: Taught private lessons at Prof. Erny’s Music Store (Houma, LA) as an after-school job. 1991 – 1997: Substitute instructor at Drummers Collective, NYC. 2002 – 2005: Private lessons & Clinician New Orleans, LA. 2005 – 2007: Faculty member at Musician’s Institute, Hollywood, CA. 2007 – present: Faculty member at Premier Music Academy, Las Vegas, NV.
