"DON'T SWEAT THE PETTY THINGS & DON'T PET THE SWEATY THINGS" - This quote always makes me laugh :) George Carlin was one of my favourites, he was a hero and one hell of a spokesperson for the open-minded. This world will miss him.... Cheers George!
HELLO and WELCOME to my page here on MySpace. Hope you'll stay a while and have a listen! I am a singer/songwriter, musician and artist (paint mainly). I do these things for no other reason than true love :) Music and art are the essence of my very being and I believe the arts, in all forms, not only reflect the society we live in, but also have the power to change it. I don't own a cell phone or a microwave. I hand doodled my banner above and I manage this MySpace page myself, I don't hire people to do it for me, nor do I use "Friend Adders" or MP3 play boosters. What you see is the REAL DEAL (hits, listens and friends). I believe in kindness and honousty. I like to find my fans personally, one by one and want to learn more about them. So please let me know that you were here. Leave me a message, let me know what you think of my music and artwork and most of all, let's be friends! .... Wishing you Peace, Love and Cleaner Air..... ~Grainne
Embrace Your Inner Muppet ;) Jim Henson was a genius!
IT WOULD PUT A BIG SMILE ON MY FACE IF YOU VOTED FOR ME IN THIS CONTEST!

HERE'S WHAT THEY'RE SAYIN' WHEN I'M NOT LOOKIN':
Grainne Ryan is an antidote to hollow artifice and insincerity. She wears the warmth of her heart and the strength of her hopes on her sleeve. The romantic activist in her believes that music can change people, and the world, for the better. And we, in turn, believe in her.
Grainne hails from a small town north of Toronto. Of Irish descent, and the youngest of 5 musical children, she gracefully carries the legacy of generations of gifted musicians and artists.
Growing up, she was exposed to many different styles of music, everything from Irish reels, to AC/DC, to Classical. Due to the nature of her cultural background, she was performing in front of small audiences by the time she was able to sing Twinkle Star. There was no shortage of music the Ryan household and no shortage of recording equipment either, thanks to her father. Somewhere in a box there is a tape with Grainne singing The Beatles song Baby You Can Drive My Car at the age of four.
Grainne’s Debut recording “All The Money”, a 7 song EP produced by Chris “Lurch” Rudyk (The Guess Who, Amy Milan, Great Big Sea, Blackie and The Rodeo Kings), was released in the spring of 2007 and received rave reviews from Canada to the Netherlands. It contains songs that reflect not only on personal experiences of the past, but also present modern-day social and environmental sentiments and concerns.
Most recently she won the Paragon Singer/Songwriter competition that was held at Holy Joe’s in Toronto on May 31, 2008. She has also been selected as a finalist in the “Best Live” category at the 2008 Toronto Independent Music Awards, being held on July 17 at The Annex Wreck Room.
Positive international response to her debut solo EP, radio airplay, television appearances, and well received live performances, are a growing testament to Grainne’s raw talent, universal appeal and her ability to reach a wide, appreciative audience.
“..she transcends [him] Neil Young by transforming her multitracked voice into a one-woman Crosby,Stills,Nash. Someone find this woman a record company-fast.” Jeffrey Morgan’s Media Blackout-The Metro Times-Detroit (07/07)
“Ryan’s confident voice and straightforward rootsy songs are the balm for what ails you. And with songs like the swaggering “Souls and Shoes” you’ll find yourself recovered, up and dancing in record time”. Eye Weekly-Toronto (06/07)
“Grainne Ryan may be compared to Lucinda Williams a bit for her brand of alt.country/No Depression but I also hear a bit of Jonatha Brooks… In a better world “Brace Yourself” along with songs such as ‘Tree Frog’, ‘What You Are To Me’ and ‘Unfold’ would be getting a lot of airplay and the musicianship of her band would be celebrated around the world”. John Book - Music for America (06/07)
“Bet all your money and buy this wonderful sounding debut at once”. Leo Katestaart -Altcountry. NL - The Netherlands (04/07)
“A pure voice, perhaps a little reminiscent of Sarah McLachlan … one to watch.” Kerry Doole -Tandem Magazine (05/07)
“..she is not only a great lyricist, but also an extremely gifted vocalist. ‘All The Money’ is an intimate masterpiece played with passion and pleasure. … Conclusion: an absolute must for those who melt listening to Aimee Mann, Lucinda Williams, Sarah Harmer…." Freddy Celis - Roots Time - Belgium (04/07) MyGen Profile Generator
