As a child of the 80’s Collect spent his early teenage years listening to Snoop Dogg, Too Short, Outkast, Tupac, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony and E-40. It wasn’t until he was older that his love for music drew him towards artists falling under other genres of music such as Rock, Alternative, Jazz, and Soul. Collect Started rapping at the beginning of the new milinum under the name Cash the Collector. With his cousin Sincere, then going by the name Smokey, he formed the group Darringer. Though the group was short lived, the time that was spent forming his unique style was the foundation for the artist that we have all come to love “Collect†As a member of Money Quest Entertainment. Collect learned how to rap studying local East Palo Alto rappers such as Chunk, Smooth-J, Mr. Alias, Stag, C-Funk and more. It wasn’t until 2002 that Collect first began to record his Debut album, Blood, Sweat, Cry later. After putting months into the project bringing it to 80% completion, Collect unhappy with the overall sound of the album, abandoned the project.
Receiving the opportunity to be the host of a local cable network Hip-Hop Television Show. Collect became the Host of Playa Vizion T.V. Interviewing and Touring with artists such as Ciara, Kelis, Lil Jon and the Eastside Boys, Ying Yang Twins, David Banner, Bubba Sparxx, Loon, and Akon amongst others. Collect was even granted the opportunity to Tour with the And1 mixtape tour for 3 years in a row. Collect began working Inside of E-40’s (his long time idol) Bay Area nightclub “The Ambassadors Lounge†in the summer of 2005 Where Playa Vizion T.V. aired on a nightly basis. With this expose Collect then decided to begin recording his official debut album “Buffalo Soldier†Working with local Bay Area artists such as The Federation, Turf Talk, Mistah Fab, The Team, and Dem Hoodstarz, Collect has assembled a well rounded album sure to be a classic. Somewhat ahead of his time, Collect has been able to combine all aspects of the urban culture into one masterpiece. Collect is sure to be a major factor to the future of Hip-Hop and music in general.
