" A TRIO OF LOCAL POP ACTS GATHER IN A SMALL TURN OF THE 20TH CENTURY CHAPEL OUT ON CONEY ISLAND, HOME BASE OF SINGER SONGWRITER DAVE DOOBININ. IT SHOULD BE A MEMORABLE NIGHT- PERHAPS MORE TRUE TO CONEY ISLAND'S SPIRIT THAN THE ANNUAL SIREN FESTIVAL." - TimeOut NY

Dave Doobinin is a wandering spirit, hopeless romantic, world traveler and artistic soul. He calls Coney Island his home, which is fitting for who he is as an artist and a man. Like Coney Island, bright and alive and rough around the edges, Dave Doobinin walks the board walk, his own minstrel show, lives next to a lighthouse, and hangs out at the freak show sometimes. He moved to Coney Island, after living all around the world in places like Greece, Germany, Italy, and Paris working on films and adding to his victrola collection. This is Dave Doobinin, and this is his honest truth.

Doobinin’s third release, The Birth Of Wonder (September 9, 2008 release) is a voyeuristic collection of songs that showcase his perspective of this rich strange world. “There's a raw emotional power that shines through on this record.” Dave says from his Dumbo studio. “The band and I did a really amazing job at getting out of the way of the songs. I learned how to really listen.”

On Saturday, June 14th Dave will be celebrating Coney Island and songs from his new record with a very special evening of music at The Chapel in Sea Gate, (Coney Island) Brooklyn. The Chapel was built in 1901 and sits meters from the Ocean and Norton’s point lighthouse. No longer used for services, the chapel will be an intimate ambient setting with candle light rugs and complementary wine and beer. The night will also feature performances by The Voyces and Tara Angell, whose last record “Come Down” was recommended by David Fricke of Rolling Stone. There will also be so guest appearances by Briana Winter, and Kat and Black Bunny.

There will be transportation to and from the subway to the Chapel as well as some fun events if you want to make a day of it, like a tour of Coney Island by Captain Bob, as well as gift certificates to The Wonderwheel The Cyclone. More details about the specifics of the day/night events coming shortly.

"I remember going to the Chapel (built in 1901) on rainy days in the summer and watching Charlie Chaplin silent movies there when we couldn't go to the beach. We went to the beach every day during the summer.. I remember the Riviera and how romantic it was. We youngsters would watch the older kids dancing to Cole Porter's music from the jukebox. The colored light bulbs were strung out overhead across the beams as couples danced on the deck with the Atlantic Ocean in the background” - Martha Goldstein . Sounds Like: The Voyces -Kissing Like It's Love Planting Seeds RecordsThis second disc from the NYC-via-Southern California Voyces is a quietly impressive collection of graceful, pastoral pop that sounds emotionally deeper with each listen and more expertly crafted as well.-Delusions of Adequacy

In Tara Angell I hear a unique and beautifully vulnerable voice, refusing to sugar-coat bitter every day tragedies , but instead fearlessly linger in mysteries dark, and then surprise with sweet eroticism and intangible self-empowerment. - Lucinda Williams
