Singer and songwriter Eddie Reid was born and brought up on the boundary between Yoker, Glasgow and the East End of Clydebank. Rothesay Dock was his back yard, and the ships berthed there, a gateway to the wider world and diverse cultures. He felt the full effects of the demise of the shipbuilding industry, and watched his home town slip into decline. He bore witness to the emergence of the "Trainspotting Generation" that was borne out of hopelessness and despair, losing family and friends along the way. Having been the town cobbler for more than a decade, he began songwriting as a means of coping with these losses and to provide himself with a safety valve, recording his songs acoustically, through the night in his 14th floor high-rise apartment. This kick-started a chain of events that, one way or another, led to him arriving to live and work in Casablanca, via Glasgow, Greenwich, Brussels, Galway and Montreal. Throughout his travels he has continued to record many of his songs with his porta-studio. Here's a chapter or two of "The Cobbler's Diary"... All songs written and produced by Eddie Reid.
