I am here for Dating, Serious Relationships and Friends

About Me

Well well well. Welcome to my li'l MySpace thang!
It surprises me to write this, but I'm living in a trailer park. YUP. That's right, trailerville on the Wildlife Refuge in South San Francisco Bay. Despite the isolation here, it certainly beats an extra 4 hours of commute driving a day (as if I don't do enough around the Bay as is). I'm doing my grad research in ecology on some marsh birds, which requires me to to be down here most days. So, once again, I find myself in a new area, trying to make a home out of it. Wanna help??????
At my house in Davis (once again, for grad school) I garden a lot as well, and my back yard is a savior for me whenever I get back in town. Even though I don't get to spend as much time in it as I would like, it's an amazing reminder of *me* in the sense of what I have done (it took LOTS of work to get it to where it is today) and to what I look forward to once done with my field time.
When not in the field, I am typically meeting up with friends at dinner parties, movie nights or bars... especially if the potential for a dance night is in the realm of possibilities.
I'm focused on the essentials: good people and relationships, beautiful nature with minimal people, nice comfy home space with a fragrant garden and a bbq. And of course, the close people to share it all with. And I guess I always have my political undertones. Hopefully everyone does.

I dunno. I feel like I'm just kind of doing my thing with school, friends and birds at this particular point in my life. I'm excited for everything going on now, but am also very interested in how that changes once I near the end of my stint at UCD and move back to San Francisco. I'm sure it will all be good stuff.
Ultimately, I am the most fortunate person alive when I think about my friends and family. We can get wrapped up in our specific lives, but we always come back to 'us'. It's very very nice. You know who you are. Mommy loves you!
P.S. Please don't just randomly request the whole 'friend' thing-- a semblance of meaningful interaction is nice before you or I become yet another stat on each other's page... ...Apparently this li'l warning hasn't worked, so I've now added the 'email or last name' screen to requests. If you wanna know... just ask (ie start a conversation!)Cheers! -t.ro

My Interests

Dancing. Socializing. Birding. Randomly dancing while socializing. Randomly socializing while birding. Randomly birding while socializing. Birding and dancing don't typically mix so hot.

Friends, nature/hiking, music, playing pool, gardening, traveling (when possible)..... I dunno, plenty of stuff

I'd like to meet:

Looking for good, genuine people. Male, female. Gay, straight. Single, coupled. Whatevs. It would be really nice, though to meet some "naturey" 20-30 somethings to provide more outdoor time.I'm still always on the lookout for some mo's in the Valley. What can I say, a certain part of me misses living in the absurd spectacle of gay Disneyland (the Castro). :-)

Music:

P!nk, Dixie Chicks, Goldfrapp, Pet Shop Boys, Esthero, Madonna, Imogen Heap/Frou Frou, Bjork, Andrew Bird, Rufus Wainwright, Res, Rilo Kiley/Jenny Lewis + WT, Death Cab, Her Space Holiday, Arcade Fire, Tori Amos, Massive Attack, Fannypack, Peaches, Jem, The Sixths/Magnetic Fields/Future Bible Heroes (everything Stephin Merritt), Towa Tei, Belle & Sebastian, Air, EBTG, George Michael, The Beatles, Kelly Clarkson, Postal Service, Phoenix, Dolly Parton, Royksopp, Stereo Total,..... lots-o-schtuff...

Movies:

Something I don't keep up with NEARLY enough: can't even think of a list right now.Typically stuff that's a bit off-kilter with a good modern wit about it. I really dig good cinematography and a fractured narrative. Tim Burton, David Lynch, Christopher Guest, Terry Gilliam and Robert Altman = good stuff, though I still don't watch enough. On a different vein. I'm a slave to the fantasy saga: Lord of the Rings, X-Men, Batman (now that a good one came out again!), Superman (hopeful...) etc. You get the picture.

Television:

Well, I *wasn't* a tv whore, but I think I have earned that title at this point. I used to only get into Alias (so sad it's gone), Grey's Anatomy, Project Runway, Medium (giddyup Patricia Arquette)...Now I follow HEROES religiously, and am a regular watcher of Studio 60, Amazing Race, Desperate Housewives, Brothers & Sisters, Veronica Mars, ANTM, Kathy Griffin (when possible). And natch, still a huge fan of Grey's Anatomy (despite it's switch to Thursday night), PR, Medium.I still, when available, watch DVDs of full seasons of Charmed. I have no excuse. I like it.Oh, and Kids in the Hall and Strangers With Candy have to be on here, despite the sad fact that they ended soso long ago. Exotic Canadiens and Amy Sedaris I still love you!

Books:

The Lord of the Rings trilogy (including The Hobbit, infatuated since I was 7), anything Daniel Handler (though I haven't read his pseudonym Lemony Snicket books), David Sedaris, Jeffrey Eugenides, Christopher Moore, Kurt Vonnegut and Michael Chabon.I used to be really into fantasy novels (Piers Anthony, Anne McAffrey, JRR Tolkien, Robert Jordan, Terry Goodkind), though have been more into contemporary slant fiction lately. Admittedly (like movies) I haven't had time to indulge as much though lately.

Heroes:

uh..... My mom. Hands down the most AMAZING woman. EVER. period.I dunno- most of my friends are heroes to me in their own rights. Anyone that does their thing and loves it.....Don't really have specific celebrities or famous people that inspire me all around. If anyone, I guess it would have to be David Attenborough in the nature aspect and Linda Evangelista in the self-made chameleon/style-monger that she is!!!!

How is it...

...that all of a sudden it feels like everyone around is me so grown up, and I'm the only one up late, while everyone else is sleeping and prepping for whatever it is that they're doing in the morning...

All rails, all the time

Well, at this point I feel I have been sequestered away in the marshes of San Francisco Bay long enough, largely at the cost of maintaining any semblance of a social life.  SO, let's talk about t...

Simple.

I gardened.  I did manual labor.  I did field research.  I hiked.  I reconnected with old friends, met new ones, had great conversations with the perpetual ones & made plans to...
