About Me

Layout by CoolChaserI've been a musician ever since I can remember. I started playing the guitar from the age of five, but gave it up after 3 years because I beleived it wasn't for me. It didn't help having short fingers either. So I took up drumming from the age of 8, and continued with that through primary and high school. I chose Music as one of my year 12 subjects, and got an 18/20 for my end result... I was thrilled, because I never did too well with the theory side of things. ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ______ It was compulsary to choose another instrument, and seeming I had been drumming for 8 years by that time, I chose to do Vocals as my second instrument. This was a good choice for me. ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ _______In that period of my life, I was listening to bands like Pearl Jam, Metallica, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Nickleback, Nirvana, Powderfinger, Korn, Led Zepplin, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath. I grew up in a family of musicians, so I kinda didn't have a choice on what I was brought up on. But, i wouldn't have it any other way. So in 2004 when I turned 18, I started going out to various nightclubs around Adelaide and getting into dance music. I was still a drummer at heart, but I felt new love for music forming. And that love was for House Music. ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ _______I became a regular at Kings Head Hotel, and Savvy, and was there religiously every Friday and Saturday night dancing my arse off. I got to know the resident DJ there (Professor X) and low and behold today, I'm married to the guy!! I used to watch him 'do his thang' behind the decks, and I just couldn't comprehend how it was done? To beat mix two songs together flawlessly was beyond me! So I was adamant to learn. ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ________I managed to get a few gigs as a percussionist at Kings Head, Savvy and HQ. I was a regular in Soho Bar at HQ, but then I wasn't happy.. I didn't want to just play percussion, I wanted to DJ AND PLAY PERCUSSION. So I started annoying Chris to teach me how to DJ, but that didn't happen at that time. So I slowed it down with my gigs, and eventually stopped playing all together!! ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ _______So Chris (DJ Professor X) and his business partner DJ Evan decided to start Apollo DJ's - a 6-week course that teaches you how to become a DJ. So far, they have successfully taught over 40 students, and which some of them have regular gigs all over Adelaide. I'm currently a student, but am 2 weeks away from graduating. But he isn't the main reason why I have become a DJ today... He was definately an influence in my life, but my passion for music was what drove me to make my decision. And I feel as though I have finally made the right choice! ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________So to update my bio, I have recently since completing my course had a few gigs around Adelaide.... I wouldn't have thought that the Apollo DJ course would get me work so quick! I have played @ Savvy, Caos Cafe, and Adelaide's newest hotspot, CLUB 58! I have even scored myself a residency there, and you can see me there pretty much every Saturday night. With great drink specials, and a SOUND SYSTEM TO DIE FOR, you can't go wrong. There are also other Apollo DJ's who play there on rotation. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED,,, RESIDENCY ACQUIRED!! :-) ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ________So alternitavely, if you think it would be cool to have a chick dj-ing @ your club, or a private party, feel free to contact me through my page.... PEACE!!
