When you hear New York City artists yell out "Uptown" and how it is represented in music for so long, you tend to think about the birthplace of Hip Hop...Bronx, NY, or the infamous Harlem...known for some of the greatest hustlers and rappers of our time. But in between the midst of these famous territories, lies a town called Washington Heights. Home to the notorious Wild Cowboys, Washington Heights has its share of history when it comes to growing up in the hood. Overlooked in the rap game, Wash Heights never really made an impact on the music scene, but is well known for the lifestyles that a lot of rappers talk about when it comes to hustling and grinding.
Izzy Hott is one of them, and is on the grind to put Washington Heights on the map...Born Richard Then, on November 8, 1986 in Washington Heights, NY...Izzy Grasped the rap game at the early age of 8. He could be found in front of his bedroom apartment mirror reciting 2pac and Bone Thugs N Harmony songs. It wasn't until the age of 13 that Izzy found a new love in music, which was writing his own. Formerly known as Shiesty, he performed at clubs and events across the east coast in cities such as Connecticut, Boston, and Philadelphia at the age of 16, as a hype man for a local hip hop artist. Under this artists' wing, izzy gained a lot of knowledge and experience with how the music business works and what to expect. He took this and ran with it to form an independent label called Dirty Deuce Entertainment, alongside D-Block Latino's artist Chary Ary and various others. Continuing to work hard and bettering their craft, Dirty Deuce gained a buzz in Haverstraw, NY and had the privilege to perform at the 2007 Annual Dominican Parade in which the crowd witnessed Izzy Hott's first solo performance ever. Judging by the crowds reaction, there was only 1 thing you could grasp from it...Izzy Hott is a star in the making.Soon after, Izzy attended The Institute Of Audio Research in the lower east side of Manhattan, in which he majored in Audio Engineering. To his surprise he was in the same class as Jojo Simmons(Run's House) and through time they grew much respect for each others music. In fact, Jojo believed in Izzy's talent so much that he invited Izzy to do a cameo appearance when shooting the video for "J5 On Em'", off his Debut album "Lights Out" with Team Blackout. To make sure it didn't stop there, and looking to help spread the word about this up and coming rapper from Washington Heights, Jojo gave a shout out to Izzy at the end of the "J5 On Em" song, which considerably makes Izzy Hott the last name you hear on the Album in stores now.In October of 2008, Izzy competed in a Talent Showcase with a grand prize of $500, held by Hi-Rize Entertainment in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Stunningly out of 42 artists who performed that night, Izzy came in 2nd place overall, gaining much respect from the judges and the crowd. Now with the transition from a teenager to an adult, and some talented producers under his belt such as Tom Colletti(America's Best Dance Crew, VH1), Frado(Dj Absolut, AZ, Trey Songz, Jadakiss, LL Cool J), and Hectic(Chosen Few), Izzy is ready to take the music game by storm with his unique flow, versatility, and consistency to produce music from his inner thoughts and experiences to the reality of growing up in a neighborhood that has been subdued to drugs and violence his entire life.
