Influences: !-Start Custom Code in Sounds Like-!: !-START code for custom text section-!: At the tender age of 23, the lyrical and musical talent that Dynamic posses are far beyond his years. Born into a middle class family from Dallas, TX Desmond Donahue a.k.a. Dynamic was raised in a single parent home by his mother. In hopes of a better opportunity, Dynamic’s mother relocated to his grandmother’s home on the southwest side of Dallas.
As a child, he found his love for music at the early age of six, singing in church. Watching Michael Jackson videos, flash backs to The Temptations, Prince, Jodeci and Marvin Gaye performances began the stages of his uncontrollable love for the art of music. He believes good music comes from the heart and soul of a person. Simply put Dynamic said, “I feel people will always crave for good music. I want to reach people’s hearts with my lyrics and souls with my voice. I want to master the art of story telling.
Also during his age of six, he was in a bad car wreck where he almost lost his life. The date was February 20th 1990 when a drunk driver ran a stop sign and hit his mother’s car along with his two sisters. The impact of the car threw him and his baby sister in the back trunk of their mother’s station wagon. He had to be care flight away from the scene with not one minute to spare. The young Dynamic had internal spleen damage and rapid bleeding.
After 2 months he was released and put on bed rest. Later on growing up he endured the embarrassment of having a scare, but enjoys every breath of life he has. He said, I remember growing up I never would take off my shirt because I felt ashamed of my scare as a child. I always thought there was a lot more I could do without this scare. Even though, I still thank God for saving me and another chance at life.
Singing is what he has done all his life. He’s performed in talent shows at Prairie View A&M University, and clubs in Deep Elm like Tom Catz and Club One. Hungry for success, he left Dallas to audition in Austin for American Idol going two rounds before being dismissed.
As an entertainer he is ready to deliver all, blood, sweat, and tears. Songs like “Up and Down†one of the first singles on his promotional disc exemplify Dynamic’s layered vocals and creativity for the love makers out there. “He Can’tâ€, a track in which he strives to convince his lady that there is no other lover like him. “Can’t Get Closeâ€, a beautiful track in which he stresses the need to be with a lady and that all she has to do is give him a chance and let the rest fall in place.
Whether it’s the bedroom or the dance floor, Dynamic’s songs are filled with passion and intense energy that pulls (you into the music) and puts you into a zone. Dynamic’s goals consist of taking the music industry by storm, as he graces and challenges popular music with his writing and vocal talents. He is distinguished by youthful energy with in-depth lyrics that touch the soul.
"If you’re an artist, you’ve got to push yourself. Expand your creative horizons, and make sure you’re memorable and important. Then give it all the show – stopping soul power you’ve got." He also says, "I have high standards for my music to raise the bar in the industry."
With his looks and swagger, along side his vocal talent, Dynamic holds the interest of some day getting into modeling, as well as acting on a major level. He said, "being from Dallas and trying to make it in the industry has been hard." But he’ll never stop reaching for success. "Where there is a will there is a way" he says, with a glare and a grin.
