About Me

Drawing strongly from influences in both surrealism and electro dance rock, WE ARE LIKE THE SPIDER weave into their music a fidgety finesse that belies the usual definition of midwestern music. Members of rogue dance-rock DJ collective Black Box Revue, Gozu & Lucia have been collaborating to create tracks that twist, startle and stab with a kinetic swagger. --- Joshua Wright, Buzzine.com
[We Are Like the Spider] is a production/DJ duo from Missouri that has recently caught our eye here at Digital Bombs. The band dynamic may appear similar to other boy/girl groups such as Crystal Castles and Glass Candy, yet they retain a dark, brooding sound all their own. And if producing some pretty solid tracks wasn't enough, [We Are Like the Spider] can also hold their own behind the decks at Springfield's Black Box Revue--opening for such blog favorites as LA's Guns & Bombs, Crystal Castles, and Health! --- Art Thief, Digitalbombs.com
Here are some bad ass things about WE ARE LIKE THE SPIDER that make them different from other [Missouri] bands:
1. They play electronic music.
2. They wear a lot of make-up.
3. They don't play indie-pop, but they still use tambourines.
4. It's hard to tell what the hell is going on most of the time (in a good way).
5. Their song "Shame."
6. Their artwork is as good as 95 percent of the stuff you'll see at Art Walk.
7. The vocals on the song "Lightning Garden" would scare the hell out of Marilyn Manson, but the music itself is kind of fun and dance-y.
