About Me
Born in Toronto, Canada, in 1975, where discovered the art of Djing, Dj Johnny Light came to Portugal in 1992 and began his career as a professional Dj in 1997, after receiving an invitation to work in Clube Subsolo, in Furadouro, where he was a resident Dj and also backed up the organization of big events that led to the evolution of Electronic music in Ovar.
Dj Johnny Light specialized in Techno, creating a unique style, although, he never stopped following the tendency of music in general, what led him to assume a more eclectic style, between Techno and House music.
Since 1997, Dj Johnny Light has revealed amazing performances, with unforgettable sets in charismatic houses such as Clube Rocks, considered at the time, the most prestigious Portuguese dance club, where he frequently played to a full house. In this list of clubs, we also have Pachá in Ofir and Kadok in Albufeira, Algarve, among many others. Apart from his performances in clubs, he has always participated in important electronic music events revealing his musical versatility in his performances in Queimas (University Parties) and concerts.
During these years, he performed with some of the best International Dj’s as: Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox, Bob Sinclair, Laurent Garnier, Masters at Work, Jeff Mills, Green Velvet, Little Louie Vega, Erick Morillo, Luke Slater, Derrick May, Rolando, Derrick Carter, Umek, The Advent, Steve Lawler, Jesus Del Campo, among many others. In the national level he played with Dj Vibe, Dj Jiggy, Miss Sheila, Frank Maurel, Carlos Fauvrelle, Pete tha Zouk, Nuno Clam, António Cunha, among many, many others.
Besides his work as a Dj, Dj Johnny Light has also a connection with BimotorDj, where he collaborates as an electronic music consultant. Currently, his full time is devoted to production, after having finished the production course. Therefore, some surprises are expected for 2008, including a radio show.
