About Me
"There is no better name to compliment the skill of this emcee. Mention the name Many styles to any NYC underground hip hop fan, you hear words like Jedi, Amazing and crazy fired back at you" (Beautiful Decay). Achieving an acclaimed body of work, a Brooklyn native, Many Styles first stepped into the New York City battle scene in the late 90s and rapidly began making his mark in the circuit. With a demeanor that demanded attention on and off stage, a captivating performance and a signature quick witted, rude, in your face approach, Many dominated some heavy-hitting opponents and influenced fellow emcees in the process. Acquiring several notable wins ( Braggin Rites, Spiral Lounge, Back to Mecca, etc.) Many Styles became known throughout the underground as a vicious competitor, ranking in as one of the scenes elites. He continues to be one of the most quoted battle emcees till this day.
In 2000 Many set his sights on a new pursuit and a greater goal to attain. Leaving his spot up for grabs, he went on a two year hiatus finessing his craft and making the transition from a battle emcee to a full on songwriter. Drawing on various inspirations he created innovative, self reflecting and mind bending concepts that would ultimately form his self- titled debut Many- Styles. With a blend of thought provoking lyricism and striking flow work, Many walks the line appealing to the underground elitist while simultaneously capturing the attention of the average mainstream listener. From the unconventional Wright About Now, a detailed account and a true personification of the term poetry in motion to the stiletto- sharp delivery of Directors Cut ; the personal and imagery loaded Love, Life and Music and the mind numbing Paradox Is There the Many styles LP leaves little ground uncovered and stands in a class of its own. The production is credited to luminary, Deep, Blockhead, Tonedeff, Fred Ones, Gods child and blowout.
With a string of New York dates and positive reviews, Many Styles caught the ear of several label heads. However, unconvinced and unenthused, he ventured out on his own opting to release the LP independently. Opening up for artists such as, M.O.P, Pharaoh Monch, Talib Kweli, the roots, Royce da
59 etc, and earning a growing fan base, Many styles inked a distribution deal with MF Grimm of Day By Day Entertainment. Many Styles is scheduled to hit stores in Fall of 2006.. Now in 2009 Many Styles returns as I Am Many presenting "The Human Experience" A brand new sound crafted by himself and producer/musician Gedi formaly of the Bronx Monx. The first project entitled "To Every End There Is A Begining"is schedualed to be released May 25th 2009 (Memorial Day wknd ) Stay tuned..
