Shzr Ee plays most things with keys, and a couple more toys.
She writes her own tunes (myspace.com/shzreerandom), and is also a member of jazz quartet The Beasharps (myspace.com/thebeasharps) and tango bands Tangorinos (myspace.com/tangorinos) and The Four Moustachios (myspace.com/thefourmoustachios). As a pianist she is versed in classical (solo and chamber work), jazz, blues, funk, fusion, tango and freestyle genres. She has also started playing the accordion with chanson, gypsy and fusion groups. Her toy of the moment is the tin whistle, but she is happy to be persuaded otherwise.
Further performing traditions in Shzr Ee's repertoire include: Amis folksong and circle dancing; Okinawan folksong, Okinawan lute (sanshin) and Eisa dancing; Japanese percussion (samba, yot-tsudake and taiko); Korean percussion (changgo); Chinese Silk and Bamboo music (sanxian, ban and erhu); Thai fiddle (saw duang); balloon blowing and popping; Alsatian barking; bad French accent; half-an-ambulance siren; Japanese Elevator Lady (without gloves, hat optional); Fernando.
Shzr Ee has played in London, Singapore and Japan, performing in venues from The Arts House (Singapore) to the Hiroshima Youth Music Festival, SOAS, The Truman Brewery, St George's Queen Square, the British Museum, Queen Elizabeth Hall at the South Bank and her acoustically maladjusted bathroom. She has also worked as a composer on several independent film projects, and dreams of scoring a Miyazaki film one day.
