The "Young Prince of the South", a nickname bestowed upon J Xavier by his dad, came to the attention of Music World Music's head honcho Mathew Knowles in 2005. After J Xavier performed at one of their label sponsored showcases, Mr. Knowles' interest was peaked and the well rounded entertainer was signed to a deal not long afterwards. Once recording began on the Young Prince of tha South album, J Xavier tapped into his youthful musical vibes. Utilizing aspiring producers from the Houston, down south area, Young Prince of tha South allows J Xavier to explore his writing skills in addition to learn from other writers. "All of my music is clean and positive, but it's still hittin' on the level with artists like TI and Kanye West," says J Xavier. J Xavier was blessed with the opportunity to open for rising R&B sensation Chris Brown's current tour and it's been a blast. "When I get on stage, the energy from the crowd is crazy and I have that energy, and together it's like wow, and this is what I was born to do!" J Xavier explains. It's not only important for J Xavier to express himself, but present himself as a positive inspiration to young people. "I'm raised that way, and I want to come in the game and have people say J Xavier is not just talking loud and saying nothing but he's backing it up," J Xavier proclaims. When J Xavier is hosting, he makes sure he asks all of his guests what advice they would give to youngsters like himself, and now he's creating an opportunity to respond to his own questions, saying "stay focused, stay in school, obey your parents and obey your teachers." Affirming, "you can be anything you want to be, do anything you want to do….go with what you feel is right for you. That's why he's the "Young Prince of the South", destined to grow up one day to be a king
