Boaz Mauda is a Israel singer that was born on 23rd of april 1987. He won the fifth season of Israel version of ''Pop idol''-'A star is born'.
Boaz sings since the early age of five. He amazed his family with singing Jewish prayers. Since then his goal was to become a professional singer-and moreover, to sing infront of the whole Europe.
In the talent show he amazed the judges with his wide vocal range. Soon the whole country fell in love with his voice and he became a favorite of the crowed at home. During the show Boaz performed with a worldwide known singer and guitar player David Broza. His performance in the show's finale ''Managen Ve' Shar'' had recieved more then 50% of all the votes. Boaz was chosen for the Israel ''Idol'' and became the leading role model for youth and adoults of Israel. He dedicated the winning song to his mother who is handicapped since he was born.
Mother is his private symbol of persistance and willpower. A family guy, Boaz lives with his parents and two siblings in an agriculture cooperative in the middle of Israel.
Boaz took part in this year's Eurovisionsong contest. He represented five songs to the people of Israel (that were Ke'ilo Kan (As if here) by Dana International and Shai karem, Masa haiyai (Journey Of My Life) by Itay Pearl, Hin'e Ha'or (There's The Light) in duet with Maya Avraham by Ovadia Hamama, Bli ahava (Without Love) by Henree and Parparim (Butterflies) in duet with Oshrat Phaphir. The winning song Ke'ilo Kan was chosen by combination of public voting and expert juries.
'Fire your eyes' was written especially for Madua, after Dana heard him sing. The song tells the story of yearning for the love ones which are gone, and the comfort we all find in singing.
Boaz performed with the song ''Fire In Your Eyes'' as the 2nd in first Eurovision semi final (on 20th of may) and made it to the final where he performed as the 7th. In the final evening he ended up 9th with 124 points.
