Rapper/Producer/Entrepreneur"UP was born in "Little Jamaica" a nickname made by "UP" for his hometown of Washington D.C a nickname he came up with cause everybody got "dreads" in D.C.His story began as a child being raised by a single mom in the now drug and crime ridden part of D.C called north west."UP" as a kid was very creative he would make paper action figures of his favorite cartoons He Man and Transformers often he would make it so the transformers had moving parts.Also he made action figures of his favorite N.W.A wrestlers.His grandmother had a major role in raising him while his mother was at work during the day.His grandmother gave "UP" a southern upbringing food and all.She was from South Carolina.And was well liked and popular in the community.She watched kids for a living when she retired.When "UP" was in high school he was drawn to art and music classes.He and his best friend at the time a football player and popular freestyle rapper nicknamed "Seattle" cause he was from Seattle Washington."UP" wrote a comedy sketch based off the popular In Living Color characters men on film."UP" played Blaine Edwards and "Seattle played Anton Merryweather.The sketch was a huge hit at his talent show and won the show.He later teamed with "Seattle" to do a music video for his high school that would go on to win a city wide contest for his high school.In 1993 "UP" formed a hardcore punk band called "Decimate"the band practiced for three years before doing their first live show in 1995 and later doing their last show in 1996 the year they broke up."UP" wrote all the lyrics and did the vocals in the band.When the band broke up"UP"lost his musical outlet and fell into depression.In 1997 "UP" became a huge fan of the electro punk band The Prodigy" and Filter.He then went to radio shack and bought a $100 casio keyboard to try to recreate "The Prodigy's" sound.The casio could not create the sound he fell in love with.He read keyboard magazine,future music magazine,and sound on sound to see what he needed.So he worked retail and foodservice jobs to save up money to buy equipment he needed.It took "UP" four years to buy all the equipment.He then got more into the production side of things writing music which he never thought to do in "Decimate"cause when the band ended josh his guitar player did not want "UP" to do the songs they made together.He got heavily into electronic music.One day he bought "Lil Jon and the East Side Boyz record Kings Of Crunk" and from that moment on he found the music he wanted to make "crunk""UP" became a huge fan of southern rap and started making beats.For 10 years "UP" perfected his sound.And in 2007 "UP" returned to the mic and lyricism as well as crafting his own beats."UP" is now hard at work on his debut album set to be released on his indie imprint "We Make Dope Records"
