TJ Medel

Timothy "TJ" Medel is simply a visual artist. Using his love and passion he leaps his poetry off of the page and onto the stage with high energy pieces that simply blow your mind away. This New Jersey native started performing at the age of 17 and became a part of the 2006 NJ YOUTH SLAM TEAM. From there he would continue on with his teammates to participate at BRAVE NEW VOICES and shared the stage with 42 teams of teenagers from across the United States and U.K. in New York City. The following year TJ would then make it to the 2007 NJ YOUTH SLAM FINALS. Also, he would take part in the 2007 Knicks Poetry Slam Series where he would place top 20 out of 1200 poets around the Tri-State Area. Currently, he now resides in Arkansas where he continues to let his word be heard by becoming a part of the 2008 Rock Town Slam Team. He would go with the team to the 16th Annual Southern Fried Poetry Slam and placed 20th as an individual for his first time. Along with that, he had the honor of blessing final stage at Florida State University as the sacrificial and hopes to return next year stronger than before. Although TJ has performed, competed, and won slams, his love is more so along the lines of teaching positivity through the arts. He's conducted many workshops in various highschools and colleges that encourage students like himself to work up the will and courage to let their own voice be heard. After strengthening his craft at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in Manhattan, he now continues his studies as a Performing Arts major at the University of Arkanasas in Little Rock.
