Word Art is an initiative that has been started by 6 senior students at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, Cape Town campus. Initially we did it as a way of bringing some real hip hop into our institution, because nobody has catered for the community since Uncut, which is a private organization.......As we started working on it, we realized that it could also be a way of introducing the masses to the positive side of hip hop, at the same time, giving artists a chance to spit to the general public.......It has been hard, but we’ve been through our first show and it went down well. Some of the artists are a bit disappointed, and we sincerely apologise for that. Othewise… in the name of positivity, good intentions and good music; thanks to everybody who came to support. Annete, Sis Thobeka, Derek and Rozzanno, thank you for everything, honestly...... AND ALL THE ARTISTS WHO CAME THROUGH.... you don't understand how much we respect you all.............The shows are all free, and there are also free workshops before that, so feel free to join us next time if you’re free.
