About Candace
Since I am so very nice, I will tell you about myself, in case you didn't know enough already. I live in Portland now, primarily for the purposes of going to school, but it does feel like home, too. Recently graduated with flying colors with degree in Interactive Media Design. Now I am gainfully self-employed and working full time with the wonderful guys at Spitball Media , a small media production agency.
So, what does "Interactive Media Design" mean? I design and develop websites and web applications, primarily... I'm just as "designy" as I am "codey", and I don't know which I am better at.
Those who know me from "the day" would remember that I play the violin. Music school didn't work out for reasons that don't much have to do with the violin. I've recently started playing again... not for profit, just for fun.
I guess I'm supposed to be writing about my "personality". One thing people tend to say about my personality is that I'm candid - I say how I feel, unless, of course, I am feeling intimidated or shy, which happens a lot, actually. I am growing out of that whole shyness thing, slowly, as I realize that principally, I don't give a fuck.
People also say (especially other women) that I am extremely confident. That's not exactly how I feel a lot of the time. Instead, I feel awkward, especially when I am near brilliance (see next paragraph). And I studder when that is the case. I must put on a good show. As my friend Lorin says, "Fake it till you make it!" (I think a lot of women feel they need only to be reserved, receptive, and unassertive. I think that is sad and wrong. If any women out there need a good role-model, they should meet my friend Jenni. See "Friends".)
One thing I know for certain about myself is that I am smart. I tend not to bother with people who aren't smart, as well, and I find brilliance irresistable. Aren't I an ellitist bitch?
Other things I find irrestable are: rotating signs (I'm thinking of starting a blog devoted to that subject alone), Foucault and Nietzsche (which I've started to read for pleasure), animals, red meat, my bed, my family, my boyfriend Dave, and nerdy girls (which seem hard to come by)...
