SpectraFloor: intelligent, hard hitting dance

About Me

SpectraFloor is a house music group featuring Houston club Europe resident DJ Richard Hardfloor and producer Spectra.
We produce virtually all genres of high energy electronica. All songs on this page have completely different styles....as with groups like Way Out West we aim never to have the same song twice. We often use rhythm rotations and scales that have never been done in electronic music. If you want to know which artists we recommend (also our top influences), just look at our friends list. Just a few tips: "Iris DeeJay" sounds like the next Paul Van Dyk and even more surprising and intelligent, Freaked Frequency is trippier than Astral Projection, and Dead PA is probably the best d&b group we've ever heard (not to mention fantastic at jazzy tranced out ambient hybrid tracks). Carlo-Serafani, meanwhile, is one in a growing group of musical researchers (right up there with guys like William Sethares) redefining what's possible in music...and making smart, chilling ambient and rock music in the process.
Songs on this page:
0. Sutrated (full length preview): our vision of the future of dance music, organic liquid break-beats, soaring organic pads, ethic instruments, and even our own scale system/music theory along with our usual own rhythm theory. That and not 1 but 3 catchy melodic themes...somewhere between Freaked Frequency's style and Hybrid's. This one has a bit of everything we do in it.
1. Project Freedom: massive layered trance, Ocean-lab style with a very open feel and some seriously soaring melodies.
2. Canary: breakneck 180bpm drum and bass with massive Rhodes and brass solos and surprising trippy beat rotations, absolutely nothing "standard"...such rotations have been know as something SpectraFloor does that virtually no other electronica group does.
3. Dreamist: Banging gouryella-trance break-beat genre hybrid with massive leads, a tripped out outro section, and Goa trance influences.
4. Easternity: Intelligent tribal house style with Matthew De-Kay influence. Builds slowly into massive layers of ethnic instruments and a has very sultry feel, check out the main melody about 1.5 minutes into the track.
5. Rainbow: Now for something completely different...very laid back Herbie Hancock "Chameleon" style hip-hop/acid-jazz hybrid genre track with psychedelic jazz/ambient layers and a good dice of Orbital-ish electronic orchestral spice. And, of course, SpectraFloor's signature psychedelic rhythm rotations (trust me you've never seen a snare or kick rotate like this).
