DJ KIMMY =
From an early age I began playing music at school and the passion grew from there, I used to set up school dances and be the music coordinator for them! This was in year six, I loved it! Seeing people smile when you play certain songs because it reminds them of something or someone is unbelievable!
About two years ago i started the I LOVE ADELAIDE HOUSE MUSIC Website, I was bored at work one day and decided that the people of Adelaide needed somewhere to log onto where they could find everything that's happening for that week. The response to the site was amazing! So i would consider myself to be a promoter aswell as a DJ, i love promoting events for people!
I had always perceived DJing as being a males Domain, until I realised that it was actually the next best step in expressing my passion for music. I have absolute admiration for DJ’s, Before I began learning the ways of becoming one, it would always look like someone "the DJ" Putting a CD into theplayer and miraculously the beats sounded like they all melded into each other, but I then realised that I was the furtherest from the truth that I could be!
I have learnt that there is so much skill and patience involved! And that it doesn’t just happen overnight! I first learnt the ways of vinyl about a year and a half ago, i absolutely loved both the quality of the tracks and the sound that vinyl represented, plus i looks good playing, but it's a fairly expesive passion to have! I have recently just finished the Apollo DJ training course which is held by DJ Evan and Chris (Professor X) These two people here are my mentors, for helping me break into the industry!
I have already played at afew nightclubs in Adelaide including Savvys, The Austral, The Sandbar, The Exchange and Club 58 to name afew.
A little bit about my personality now... :) A little shy at times, But once i come out of my shell... Watch out! Hehe! loves to laugh, loves to have a FABULOUS time, loves my friends and family!! My life is full of "You had to be there" moments! Comes out with the most random sayings at the most Random times! Ask my closest friends, they could think of one straight away!, a fashion addict, White wine makes me a comedian, inventive, a dreamer, I want to be able to look back on my life when I get old and think...shit yeah, I did that, I took that chance and I put myself out there, I danced until the sun came up and I drank all those cocktails and shots, and I effing loved it....live the life you always imagined and don't let anyone ever hold you back!!!
I am a Personal Assistant by day, but have a major passion for music, which is why i have become a DJ..... I have met some great ppl that i will keep in touch with, and it has given me even more experience on both CD and vinyl!! Plus i got to meet DJ Stean1, which was great, he was amazing!
