Systemyk are an Industrial Metal band from Kingston upon Hull that have been together for 5 years, been gigging for 3 and have had a few line up changes along the way, developing their own unique style as they go.Originally they started out in 2002 as a metal band 'Innocuous' with Mike on drums, Lu on rhythm guitar (they had no bassist) and Lee on lead guitar, when their singer left they decided to keep going and inspired by 'Nine Inch Nails' they acquired a keyboard player to add another dimension. At this point Lu changed to playing bass guitar and they changed their name to 'Systemyk' which is actually spelt - systemic, meaning "affecting the body as a whole".Systemyk had been practising for nearly a year writing new material whilst looking for a singer that would fit into the band. Their music had become more gothic and melodic moving away from their thrash / speed metal days. Systemyk found a singer from Hull who fit the bill, he had a very melodic vocal style. They recorded two demo cd's 'What makes me human' in 2004 and 'The Victim' in 2005 both produced by 'Greg Mackintosh' from Goth metal band 'Paradise Lost'. After their release of 'The Victim' systemyk's singer left due to musical differences. They found themselves with a bit of a problem as they had a full tour organised (The victim tour) So the hunt for a new singer began. After advertising all over it was a night out they met Danny. After just one practice with the band systemyk knew he was the man for the job. With only a few rehearsals singing with the band systemyk went on tour with their new line up and different style. Moving away from their softer approach to industrial goth, with the addition of electric drums and Danny's heavier more aggressive vocal style, 'The Victim tour' put Sytemyk on the map.Systemyk then went on to record their third demo cd 'The truth reclaimed' in 2006 also produced by Greg Mackintoch. Knowing they had finally found their formula and were ready to move forward within “the music industry“, systemyk sent that demo to the 'Independent record labels' and were picked up by 'Casket Records' and started recording in late 2006 their debut album 'Cross Contamination' at Philia Studios.Since their third demo systemyk have gone from strength to strength gigging all over the UK, developing their fan base along the way. They are currently organising some gigs in Europe promoting their debut album. Systemyk are continuing to make a name for themselves securing gigs with the likes of powerman 5000 and The video for ‘Fear inside’ has now been completed and was aired summer 2007.Systemyk have now got a new drummer as Mike left in June 2008. Matt joined the band as Mikes replacment after a few weeks and is now with systemyk as their new drummer to continue to write their second album and join them on their European tour in October 2008. .
