Whilst there, we went into the Watertheme part of the park.
I really wanted to go on the really fast slide, so I got my very heavy board and attempted to drag it up the stairs.
Unfortunately, I was very little, and the Board was very heavy, so it was extremely hard work.
I had reached aboutt the 10th step, and it had taked what seemed like forever when this young man appeared beside me. he looked to be about 17.
My first thought was to keep walking and ignore this man. However he stopped me, and asked me if He could have my board.
I assumed he was just another arrogant teenager and I didn't want to give him my board, It had taken me ages to get up these steps, and I wasn't going to give it up this easily
So I politely declined.
The young man laughed, smiled at me and said 'No, I don't want to use it. I want to carry it for you. you look like you're having a bit of trouble. and you could carry my donut up for me.'
I was shocked to say the least.. This good looking young man wanted to help a 9 year old kid? Nevertheless. I traded my board for his inflated donut and walked easily up those steps to my slide.
He walked me right up to my slide, and placed the board on the ground right next to it, even though he could have just given it to me when the steps finished.
Before he left he said to me 'Thanks for carrying my Donut for me. It was a great help.'
I was quite shy, so I could only mumble a thankyou in return.
This was the most amazing moment of my life. And has influenced every single decision I have made since.
It's amazing how such a simple, easy gesture, done with a smile can completely alter someones life for the better. I doubt this man reaslises the impact he has made. I doubt everyone who does similar things realise the impact.
But there is a massive impact.
