The NaySayers "Now on iTunes!"

About Me

CLICK For Our 17 Track album.---------------------------------------------When I approached The NaySayers to write their MySpace bio, the reception at first was sour to say the least. I found Murphy Park in his personal quarters at The NaySayers Mansion, sprawled out naked on a pile of his own 10" by 8" head shots. When he first tried to speak his words were loud, boistress, and completely uncomprehendable; but eventually his bourbon soaked thoughts poured out of his mouth like maple syrup on a fine belgian waffle. He then began to explain to me , in a calm and honest demeanor, that most of the inspiration for his songs comes from his travels to Mt. Koonatonka in fall, his multiple tours of duty as a freedom fighter in Columbia, and the tandom bike rides he took with Man Jing through the Poppy Forests of Tanagawa, Japan (don't try and google it, he insists that the people of Tanagawa have not yet embraced the internet culture) . Murphy then offered me an exotic cranberry breakfast biscuit and had his attractive female assistant Pam, give me a Brazilian Tricep massage. I sat before a true mad man, In the den of a drunken lion, and incredibely I had survived. I left quietly, for Murphy had fallen asleep after his biscuit, and headed down the hall to try to catch Rob Scoma, the other half of The NaySayers, hopefully in a recording session. Surprisingly I was instantly granted access into the room, but was promptly instructed not to make eye contact with Rob. He was in the middle of putting the final touches on his upcoming experimental-christian-spoken word album titled "A Soda in Each Hand". From what I gathered the album was mostly comprised of screaming and loud hysterical laughter; I'm still haunted by what I heard in the studio that day. I'm not sure if it was the left-over adrenaline from the recording session, or the occasional accidental eye contact, but as I tried to interview Rob he kept lunging over the table at me, threatening to "slit my F@$ing throat". Hours later he calmed down enough to communicate with me, but only by way of written statement, which he delivered on a soiled napkin. It read : "Get your cameras out of here!" Of course there were no cameras, in fact I was alone, so I was alarmed by the psychotic demand. I began to back out of the room slowly, and luckily Rob was distracted by a push pin stuck in the table. I felt I got enough of an impression of these complicated men , and feared for my safety, so I returned home to London to write the MySpace bio that their music truly deserves. Here it is:The NaySayers is Murphy Park, Producer and MC, and Rob Scoma, MC. Hailing from Santa Cruz, CA, The NaySayers are quickly building a following in the area, working with such artists as Dead Prez, Andre Nickatina, Devin The Dude, The Hieroglyphics. The music is a refreshing take on hip-hop , blending witty and conscious lyrics, with soulful and melodic production. These boys have carved out a new niche in the genre called "West Coast Underground", and have changed the game for the better. Look out for their upcoming 17 track debut LP titled "Headphone Food", scheduled to release on 4/20/08.
